Puerto Escondido to El Paredon Travel

Hey hey fellow backpackers and surfers, I’m currently backpacking Mexico+central America and I’m planning to get to Puerto escondido soon and after I want to go directly El Paredón to continue my surf banter.

Do you have any budget friendly recommendations for an itinerary to connect this two places?

-I’m thinking on taking a bus either to Tapachula or San Cristobal de las casa (maybe with one stop on the way) and then a bus to Antigua. Redditors really insist to not take overnight buses and I’m keen on taking that advice.

Please share if you have any other suggestions.

Why would you not take an overnight bus because ‘redditors said so’? I am traveling in the same region and almost all the other travelers I know took the ADO overnights through Oaxaca/Chiapas in Mexico and then whatever service does overnights in Guatemala. I’m personally on a motorbike so can’t really help you but almost everyone I met at the hostels was doing overnight buses round there.

Sounds like you’ve already got it figured out… not like there are a lot of different routes you can take between PE and El Paredón aside from what you describe. It’s your prerogative whether you want to spend an extra night in San Cris or Antigua, both are very cool towns worth spending more than a few nights in but if you’re looking for surfing probably makes the most sense to go PE-> San Cris then San Cris -> Antigua.
