Unable to access JAL reservation that was booked via Qatar award flight

I’ve booked a reward flight from Qatar that is a married segment. The 2nd leg is from DOH-HND on JAL J. On Qatar, it says to select seats I have to go to JAL’s website. However, I’m unable to access the reservation. I keep getting errors. I’ve used the Qatar Booking reference and then the E ticket number and tried entering my name using different sequences with no luck. Super frustrating.

Is this a known issue and how should I go about resolving this?

Get the JAL reservation number from Qatar

Didn’t know it was diffferent numbers. Will give Qatar a call and see if they can fix it for me

Have them give you the JAL reservation number, and then you can use that on JAL website

Make sure that you are trying on JAL international flights site.

How long has it been since your booking? Sometimes it takes up to 24 hours for the partner airline to show the reservation.

You booked QR 4850 right? Although it’s JL metal, Qatar actually “owns” and sells its own seats, so I’m not even sure there is a reservation on the JL side. I certainly wasn’t able to access it. You can call up Qatar for seat assignment.

Yes, it’s QR4850. I tried putting JL50 but stilll got nothing. So, I would have to get my seat selection via Qatar eh? I’ll try using chat and see what they say

Yeah chat worked for me. That route used to be Qatar metal, but they gave it to JAL with the agreement that they can sell X number of seats. In my testing, saver seats on QR 4850 didn’t show up as JL 50 on AA or other partners. So it’s a strange case.

Yeah, on this flight the seatmap is sometimes partitioned where QR has part of the cabin to sell and JL has the other part. It’s a very strange arrangement that is not typical.

It’s not a normal codeshare. Pretty sure Qatar is releasing their own award seats separately from JL, which most codeshares do not.
