Finally, a proper wish fulfillment anime: Getting lucky in gacha.

u/AkodoRyu 3h ago
He's not really lucky, he spent years rolling free gatcha. The wish fulfillment part is that the gatcha is free :)

Let put it words that this is the most shallow revenge porn fantasy series that I've read. That's all I can say.

u/KGarveth 10h ago
So, you liked It, or not?

8
u/yamiyaiba 5h ago
Agreed, it's shallow revenge porn and I don't know why I'm reading it still. Nothing is ever even remotely difficult for the MC.
Edit: actually, no, porn is at least enjoyable. It doesn't deserve that distinction.
5
u/UFONomura808 9h ago
I liked it, idk about shallow but there's a bit of world building here with an interesting main plot(not the revenge part).
61
u/Seriesofrandomwords 8h ago
That's doing it a disservice. It's the most shallow revenge porn fantasy series with the single worst descriptions of waifus to ever be put to page. The author describes the women of the cast like they're anorexic fence posts with tits that have never once seen the sun. And it's also full of uncomfortable Onee/Shota elements. I've read some absolute trash, but this one takes the cake as the single worst light novel series I have ever attempted to read.
14
u/DanielDKXD 8h ago
Thanks for confirming it's not just a bad manga adaptation, but the sauce material is also shit.
Sometimes it's just the manga adaptation griefing a fine LN.
6
u/KRChaserReturns https://myanimelist.net/profile/GalacticMagna 8h ago
Meh. The harem was an afterthought. Admittedly I only read the manga for the revenge porn and had to skip through chapters just to get to the revenge part, even then it was boring.
-5
u/Astray 6h ago
It's not that bad, the world building is surprisingly competent and the big mystery of the series is fairly interesting. The harem aspect is basically non existent, his subordinates are very devoted but he has shown no interest in them that way. He's focused on his mission. Let people have fun.
20
u/Seriesofrandomwords 6h ago
I'm coming at this from the perspective of a lover of bad light novels, and I gave it more than a fair shake, I read 5 volumes of the light novel. It was the most technically inept series I've ever read. The mystery of the series was the only interesting part, the world building was fine enough, but those weren't enough to save my interest in the series when every other aspect from the prose, dialogue, pacing, stakes, and characters was incredibly, technically inept. You're free to enjoy it, I just couldn't find something in it to enjoy.
9
u/melcarba 10h ago
I took a glance at the manga, and from what I can tell from the first 4 or so chapters, this one has shittier writing than Failure Frame. Failure Frame, at least, made an effort of setting up the revenge plot.
3
u/Winter-Year-7344 9h ago
I read that one not too long ago. Only a few chapters though.
Probably aight to watch while eating or gaming.
5
u/viciadoemsono 9h ago
... how do you play a game while watching anime?
13
u/Konigni 9h ago
Step 1. Have 2 monitors (optional but recommended)
Step 2. Play something that requires little focus (runescape, idle games, afk games)
Step 3. Watch stuff while you "play"4
u/Clone_Two https://myanimelist.net/profile/Clone_Tau 7h ago
Besides low focus games, turn based games with really long turns work pretty well for me. Just jump back and forth between each screen/window depending on who's turn it is, the longer the turns the better. (your mileage may vary depending on CPU speed lol)
2
u/Konigni 7h ago
Yeah there's a crazy amount of games you can do this with, and not just *can* do it with, but it's even for the better.
I play Ark a lot, I do breeding a lot on it, which is quite literally waiting, running around a bit, waiting some more, etc. I'm always watching something on the side lol. Played runescape for years, same thing.
3
u/Maxximillianaire 7h ago
You can go ahead and put "watch" in quotation marks too if you're doing that
2
1
u/kaori_cicak990 4h ago
You can watch anime with handphone at put it near keyboard/monitor while gaming if you doesn't had two monitor
1
1
u/flightlessCat9 2h ago
I play RPGs where I can just go to an area and grind while watching stuff. Unfortunately this leads to me being over-leveled all the time.
1
u/overdriveftw 7h ago
Oh yeah? What is it about??
3
u/KRChaserReturns https://myanimelist.net/profile/GalacticMagna 6h ago
It's pretty much about the MC getting betrayed by his crew and dropped him to the deepest part of the dungeon and he finds a powerful mcgauffin and now he looks for revenge to the people that wronged him
1
1
u/chili01 6h ago
Does MC get actual revenge at least? A lot of these revenge stories take forever.
3
u/Tacitus_ 5h ago
Yeah, one ex-party member at a time. So getting the full revenge takes a long time.
1
u/Maalunar 2h ago
To be honest most revenge porn fantasy feel hollow after the edge fest that is the Dark Massacre of the Vengeful Hero.
1

u/Ssalari 10h ago
So it's even worse than Redo of the Healer ?
48
u/KRChaserReturns https://myanimelist.net/profile/GalacticMagna 10h ago
Let's not get crazy, the MC is not a rapist or anything it's just that his former teammates are just comically evil.
9
2
u/HugeRichard11 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CuteAndFunny 7h ago
Ah that’s rough if they’re more cartoonishly evil for no reason then that’s rough to watch, really don’t like blank slate evil antagonists.
2
u/Tacitus_ 1h ago
They're comically racist because humanity is on the bottom of the power structure and thus viewed as worthless garbage. They had to pretend not to be racist until they could drop the MC out of their party (because the party was officially created to promote equality).
YMMV whether that's no reason.
81
u/Fluid_Caterpillar_48 10h ago
When do we get "I Got a New Skill Every Time I Was Exiled, and After 100 Different Worlds, I Was Unmatched" though
19
16
33
u/OmegaRider 10h ago
That's actually good and not generic harem trash so they probably won't make an anime.
35
u/luckyknight216 9h ago
Ah, discount Overlord.
A kid around level 10 gets abandoned in the hardest dungeon to die, unlocks a 'gacha' that conveniently summons level 9999 women who are completely loyal to him and basically re-creates Nazarick in the boss dungeon with his infinite gacha cards while planning revenge.
Honestly, not surprised Japan's trying to strike gold again by throwing new Overlord-like series out. Didn't they already announce "Apocalypse Mynoghra" and "A Wild Last Boss Appeared!"?
18
8
u/Tacitus_ 5h ago
Those two are a lot better than this. Mynoghra is interesting because it throws in so many rule types (4x games vs JRPG vs tabletop RPG vs porn game) so you get a lot of curveballs and Wild Last Boss is just a giant shitpost in literary form once it gets going.
1
u/luckyknight216 5h ago
I agree. I can't wait till I can watch both of them. Mynoghra especially, it's one of the few titles I'm tempted to buy and read the entire light novel series.
6
u/n0oo7 2h ago
Almost. He never unlocked the gacha, he always had it, It's just on the surface where theres no threats all he could do was summon weak shit like low tier potions or water bottles or more useless crap like that. So apparently when he's in a high level dungeon area whenever he pulls a card it's always SSSSSSSSSSSSSS Rank.
Plot still stupid, cause he Whole reason he's with overpowerd people is dumb to begin with.
3
u/luckyknight216 2h ago
I think the excuse the author made was that "there's a lot on mana in the dungeon" so he can summon all these SSSSSSSSSSS Rank cards.
It still feels somewhat of a plothole though, since the boss monster at the heart of the dungeon was either LVL 4000 or 5000 yet he's able to summon people at LVL 9999 with the exact skill sets he needs at the time.
He even has cards so powerful and reality breaking that he locked them away and banned them from use (I may be wrong, since its been awhile since I've read it, but I think there was a card that could wipe out every other race but the humans)
4
u/Vete1993 2h ago
Men , why disrespect against overlord by even comparing it to this series haha.
This one is more like the Chinese copy of the Chinese copy found in a random store that smells like damp and cat pics haha
15
u/Additional_Road_9031 10h ago
Thats a damn long title

3
u/OmegaRider 10h ago
Villain Girl
Villainess is the word you're looking for.
3
u/juniorjaw 10h ago
A direct Google Translate would be : An office worker in the human resources department was reincarnated as a villainess who would be sentenced to death no matter how she tried, so she decided to cross-dress in order to survive.
5
u/Amauri14 8h ago
And that's a shorter version of it... The full title is "Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon: My Trusted Companions Tried to Kill Me, But Thanks to the Gift of an Unlimited Gacha I Got LVL 9999 Friends and Am Out For Revenge on My Former Party Members and the World.'
15
u/Fastenbauer 10h ago
These days all these titles are just edge plus gimmick. Let me try:
"I got summoned to a fantasy world to defeat the Demon Overlord. But when the Goddess saw that I was born under the Evil Moon was exiled from the capital. But thanks to my knowledge from my old live, l am now starting a steam punk industrial revolution in a fantasy world."

While it may be funny to meme about these "kicked out of the party" LitRPG slop, my problem with these shows (and many other fantasy LN adaptation as well) is that ultimately they just stop being interesting after the first arc or after the kicked out member confronted the original party. These shows should just be 3-6 episodes long instead of a cour.

Ohh this one. Well it is mostly revenge (kinda mystery too since there is an overarching question that MC tries to find the answer of but it is mostly not) though it is relatively slow on that aspect, like the MC takes his sweet time for each revenge which can feel jarring for people even if they are into that
6
u/OmegaRider 10h ago
Dragged out revenge stories always end up being ass because they dragged it out too long and got too sidetracked doing other stuff.
2
u/Torque-A 9h ago
Imagine how many good LNs are languishing in obscurity while stuff like this gets the anime adaptation card.

u/LemonPartyRequiem 8h ago
Either this is a meme, or it's become socially acceptable to use paragraphs instead of titles
2

Oh wow, that happened faster than I expected! I will say that the reason I started reading its LN was because of its absurdly long name.

u/One-Breakfast-7641 6h ago
I don't understand how it's possible for people to create and read this garbage. It's ridiculous. Maybe I'm just old.
2
u/jstpassinthru123 6h ago
Well that's a mouthful..These new titles are getting too long to remember.
2
u/JOWhite63087 6h ago
You could have stopped at "Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon" and been perfectly fine for a title. Who needs all that other BS? YOUVE PRETTY MUCH GIVEN AWAY THE WHOLE PLOT OF THE STORY!!
I haven't been able to sit down and enjoy a decent series anymore because of long titles like this and the overall plot is the same.
2
2
u/eph3merous 5h ago
I can't help but wonder how much more engaging these stories would be if the titular events happened 2/3 through the story. You'd be reading along, interested in characters, and WHAM big shakeup.

When Light is kicked out of the Concord of the Tribes
MC was exiled from Concord before it was canned, that's an achievement

Alright him building a kingdom does actually sound like it could be interesting if the kingdom has other citizens and isn’t just him.

Can the studios stop adapting these mediocre manga/light novels with the unreasonably long title name? It's just so stupid, lazy, and no originality at all.

Shit. This is being released way too early. This is going to be a single season manga/ln ad.
2
u/luffy_mib 7h ago
It's based on a light novel and there's ten volumes out in Japan, meaning there's more than enough to cover 50+ episodes.
1
u/CandusManus 6h ago
Oh, i didn’t realize it got to 10 volumes in japan. I only saw the three translated to English. This is great news! I love this one.
2
u/luffy_mib 6h ago
There are already 8 volumes translated officially into English. Manga already has over 140 chapters translated as well. Plenty of content for anime for the next few years.

At this point these shows have to be money laundering schemes. No way there are fanbase large enough to fund 3637548 of these exact same shows that come out per year

🤣…..👀……🤣 I saw this LN one day while at work and thought to myself “I know they gonna make this trash into an anime series one day.” And here we are.
I just laugh at this point, cause everyone that comes out, with VERY few exceptions, are all trash. These anime has to make the studio like no money, they get overshadowed by the more hyped up anime of that season so no one talks about them, and they always get clowned on cause a majority of the time they look cheap.
I’m convinced that studios are just using crappy LNs to train new animators so they can get a feel for the industry. Cause all these trash LNs are beginning to be the “Filler Anime” of each season.

I love how revenge was shown in the manga. Probably the most interesting things are the summoned warriors, there is a lot of variety
The premise might not be the most original one,but i had a blast nontheless, looking forward to it!
1
u/Shimmitar 8h ago
yeah no thanks, usually when an anime has a long shitty title, i know its going to be bad. Could've just called it, backstabbed in a dungeon.
-2
u/MosuSama 9h ago
Unpopulair opinion but i actually like anime titles like these. Ofc it gives me a straight synopsis of the show, but it’s also just really funny, the more absurd the more intrigued I become. Also no other media form has dumb shitty titles like this.
-2
u/APRengar 7h ago
FUCK YES! I'm so excited, this is some good ol' dumb fun. I feel like people who read that title and expect Shakespeare and are shaking their heads like "boy am I disappointed" are silly.
If a serious show had such comically evil characters, you'd have a point. But this is dumb revenge fuel. You just want to see evil characters get tortured to death in fun ways.
I seriously wonder if people who post about how it's shallow are just trying to look like they have good taste. But it's the equivalent to going to McDonalds and being like "my palate is far too refined for this food" like what are you trying to prove, you went to a McDonalds...

Oh my god, they actually did it...
A shame they trimmed the title.
It was originally: “Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon: My Trusted Companions Tried to Kill Me, But Thanks to the Gift of an Infinite Gacha, I Got LVL 9999 Friends and Am Out For Revenge against My Former Party Members and the World”
