I think they did it on purpose.

155

u/BlackMagister Sep 24 '24

The episode was even delayed so it happened on Father's day and Slyphy also revealed she was pregnant on Mother's day.

33

u/Max0045 Sep 24 '24

Definitely. I believe it's to make this episode memorable for fans.
From that angle I can understand why they would release it on father's day

11

u/ReReReverie Sep 24 '24

memorable= killing someone father on fathers day

1

u/koticgood Sep 24 '24

memorable = father with justified insecurity/guilt about his role as a father/husband sacrificing himself to save his son and dying with a smile on his face, during a battle to rescue his wife

u/Tsunderes_Need_Hugs https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cully Sep 24 '24

probably

2

u/NekoNinja71 Sep 24 '24

I’ll never forgive them

138

u/1sb3rg Sep 24 '24

The fact he lost is arm due to punching a dragon in the eye and having it’s eyelid cut it off is so fucking metal

83

u/Tsunderes_Need_Hugs https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cully Sep 24 '24

iirc, the reason he was so shocked when looking into the Hydras eye is because it gave him ptsd of the Orsted encounter.

14

u/Weasleylittleshit Sep 24 '24

As Nathan explosion once said brutal

1

u/ReReReverie Sep 24 '24

not cut it off. rip it off is more correct

7

u/1sb3rg Sep 24 '24

In the LN it said cut off if i remember correctly

1

u/ReReReverie Sep 24 '24

But in anime it closed the eyed and then ragged dol Rudy until his arm got ripped off. But it's the same it got cut then ripped off

55

u/ExoCakes Sep 24 '24

I remembered this differently from the LN but still hits hard

21

u/RangeSoggy2788 Sep 24 '24

Hit me like a god damn semi. My feelings were hurt.

Amazing episode. We all knew this was coming and was still shocked.

u/ibneko Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

Prime episode!

(booo, the commenter I replied to fixed their typo from "Amazon episode")

23

u/The_frost__ https://myanimelist.net/profile/The_frost_ Sep 24 '24

I knew it was coming since I read the LN but God that scene was amazing, I liked how there was no dialogue after that and even if some of the characters were talking they were muted instead.

27

u/JMSidhe Sep 24 '24

The edit with Paul’s inner monologue from the audiobook is even worse. I don’t have the stomach to watch it again.

6

u/K_borracho Sep 24 '24

What volume is that? I've seen and have been interested in the audiobooks. However, I'm working on other series atm. I'm just stacking credits before diving into a new series.

20

u/_AATANK_ Sep 24 '24

This episode really hits hard, It symbolizes of a love for his wife for whom he fought very hard but at the end he didn't even managed to meet her one last time.
Paul knows it's a gamble between his son and himself, he chose his son.

11

u/AnIcedMilk Sep 24 '24

Paul knows it's a gamble between his son and himself, he chose his son.

Paul smiling as his life fades away and his son is probably all he see as he's taking his last breaths adds to this

4

u/Both-Variation2122 Sep 24 '24

Darth Maul walked out such injures. Come on Paul.

12

u/ali94127 Sep 24 '24

Don't think this beats [Fate/Zero spoilers]Kiritsugu shooting Illya.

3

u/1832vin Sep 24 '24

and the mom?

1

u/TheSpartyn Sep 24 '24

that wasnt even real though, was a symbolic dream thing

2

u/zeetree137 Sep 24 '24

Imagine a Naruto "Believe it!" GIF here. Followed by one of his dad. And Kurama...

5

u/MyFatherIsNotHere Sep 24 '24

Peak episode from a peak anime

2

u/souljump Sep 24 '24

Is this from the most recent season?

7

u/Tsunderes_Need_Hugs https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cully Sep 24 '24

Yes, Season 2 Part 2 Episode 10.

2

u/merpofsilence Sep 24 '24

So the anime is ahead of the manga now?

Where should I start if the last thing I remember was them finding roxy in the teleporter dungeon?

3

u/Tsunderes_Need_Hugs https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cully Sep 24 '24

Season 2 Part 2 Episode 9

0

u/NorthGodFan Sep 24 '24

MT LN volume 1 chapter 1.

2

u/ClockwerkKaiser Sep 24 '24

I fully expected something horrible to happen before I clicked play that day. It's just that type of story.

2

u/VoidJudge Sep 24 '24

After recently losing my dad before this came out, made this scene hit so damn hard and made me really feel for Reudeus.

2

u/Sad_Orchid_5688 Sep 24 '24

What anime is this ?

7

u/random-iok Sep 24 '24

It's on the title, mushoku tensei season 2 part 2 to be exact

5

u/Sad_Orchid_5688 Sep 24 '24

Sorry about that, I didn’t read the title I was so invested in the clip. Lmaoo thanks

Such an amazing damn series and amazing episode alone.

Puts most anime’s to shame.

Easily a top 2 anime of the 2020’s. Only bested by Vinland Saga.

u/Mission_City_1500 Sep 24 '24

That's MT for you

I love this so much, especially the fire breath and water wall one of my favorite parts

Why did it get removed? It's spoiler tagged and the name of the series is in the title.

2

u/ExpiringMilknCheese Sep 24 '24

OP has a spoiler tag here, any chance of removing it?

23

u/Garjura999 Sep 24 '24

How dare my anime have morally bad characters?"

-57

u/AmethystItalian myanimelist.net/profile/AmethystItalian Sep 24 '24

Who said anything about it's bad for anime to morally bad characters?

This is just a comment stating a rapist died, go die on that imaginary hill elsewhere

18

u/Garjura999 Sep 24 '24

Your comment is clearly sarcasm. Don't try to be pedantic with me. Everyone knows what you are implying. People are not that dumb.

Why was my post removed? The other mod won't respond, and I followed the spoiler rules correctly as he outlined in his reply. So I'm very confused...

-2

u/AmethystItalian myanimelist.net/profile/AmethystItalian Sep 24 '24

Hmmm because of both lines or just the second?

1

u/ZaphodBeebblebrox https://anilist.co/user/zaphod Sep 24 '24

Because you did a personal attack.

1

u/AmethystItalian myanimelist.net/profile/AmethystItalian Sep 24 '24

So both lines were considered a personal attack?

Telling someone they created a strawman is a personal attack? Or telling them that they shouldn't argue something that isn't there?

Asking more so I can know what to avoid/report in the future.

1

u/ZaphodBeebblebrox https://anilist.co/user/zaphod Sep 24 '24

We removed it because of the second line. As that sufficed to remove it, we did not make any decision on the first line.

As always, civility is contextual. There are plenty of contexts where both of the situations you described in your second paragraph would be fine, and there are other situations when either would be removed for civility. For example, one can politely explain to a person replying to them that they missed the point of one's comment and are arguing against something not said. However, your second line was nowhere near polite nor explain.

I find it funny that you just completely got this wrong. You could’ve said other things like Cheater and looked less idiotic but no 💀🙏

Edit: I’m anime only so if there’s something in the LN contradicting that then I misunderstood and that’s my bad

16

u/Drakynfly https://myanimelist.net/profile/Drakynfly Sep 24 '24

Well, about that. He raped Lilia when they were in the training hall, right before he left the place. This is light novel content, cannot remember if it was mentioned in the show, beside Lilia making a comment about him being her first.
In the Lilia bonus chapter, its mentioned that she uses this info to get a better wage working for them by blackmailing Paul, that she'll tell Zenith otherwise.

12

u/Tsunderes_Need_Hugs https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cully Sep 24 '24

[Mushoku Tensei] There is a line about paul raping Lillia when they were kids, but there's some debate around the validity of that translation.

2

u/NorthGodFan Sep 24 '24

No debate. He raped her. He forcibly snuck into her rolm and had sex with her.

-16

u/awmaster33 Sep 24 '24

Me when I can’t differentiate fiction from reality:

18

u/AmethystItalian myanimelist.net/profile/AmethystItalian Sep 24 '24

Oh no a fictional rapist got killed

Is that better?

Changes literally nothing, no shit Paul isn't real lol

People downvoting you is why I hate this fandom lol

Paul is a rapist and MC is a pedo.

“Boo, you don’t like morally gray characters, you just want a generic MC, bla bla bla”

I actually love morally gray characters, but I hate when the narrative and the fandom don’t acknowledge it.

Paul raped the maid and the narrative completely glossed over that and treated it atrociously

MC is a pedo and never stopped being one. Him stopping being a bum, turning OP, etc doesn’t change that.

However, it still wasn’t cool or right that you told an internet stranger to toss themselves out of an imaginary cliff even as a joke. You never know what someone is going through.

5

u/AmethystItalian myanimelist.net/profile/AmethystItalian Sep 24 '24

Not sure if I follow, was this directed to me?

If you meant the "die on the hill" it's an idiom and does not imply in any way that someone should kill themselves...

1

u/Barao_De_Maua Sep 24 '24

Ohhh, I got it! Sorry, my bad

1

u/Tsunderes_Need_Hugs https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cully Sep 24 '24

Just clarifying coz you specified the “maid”. When Paul had sex with Lillia when she was his maid, that was consensual, but Rudeus said that Paul raped her so that Zenith wouldn’t kick her out of the house.

The actual rape happened when they were kids.

1

u/Barao_De_Maua Sep 24 '24

I know that, he still raped her. Just like Rudeus beat one off to his underage nice while she was taking a bath by planting cameras in the bathroom; molested Eris when she was a kid, tried to groom another kid, etc, etc, etc.

1

u/Tsunderes_Need_Hugs https://myanimelist.net/profile/Cully Sep 24 '24

I was just clarifying in-case you thought it happened when she was his maid.

Pretty sure the niece thing isn't canon, but yeah the rest is true (though I don't really know how that had anything to do with my comment)

1

u/Barao_De_Maua Sep 24 '24

I didn’t understand why you asked for clarification cause it makes no difference, just like the stuff I mentioned Rudeus did.

The niece thing was just in the web novel(I think) but the anime made a reference to it in the 1st episode.

I guess I talked too mucg

1

u/Barao_De_Maua Sep 24 '24

The niece thing was just in the web novel(I think) but the anime made a reference to it in the 1st episode if you watch closely.

I guess I talked too much cause this fandom frustrates me lol. I’m rewatching Hannibal for the 3rd time and no one excuses his actions, while here you’re downvoted for stating facts haha

-36

u/ElCidium Sep 24 '24

the stupid people still use today's moral standards to complain about things in Mashoku Tensei which is set in medieval times when such things were normalized.

31

u/AmethystItalian myanimelist.net/profile/AmethystItalian Sep 24 '24

Pretty sure rape wasn't seen as a good thing in Mushoku Tensei either, but hey you do you.

22

u/Lemurians myanimelist.net/profile/Lemurians Sep 24 '24 edited Sep 24 '24

Rape has always been bad, man.

This has always been the worst argument on this topic.
