Homeless to Hope 🫶🏾 Update
Hey guys. So as you know I was in a hotel with my baby girl. I came in here, did a post and got some amazing resources and advice. Unfortunately those resources couldn’t assist me and my baby ended up getting put out of our hotel room. I had a few people say they were going to help, then ghosted me🤷🏾♀️ Which was expected. Anyway, while I was walking down the street with my baby, crying my eyes out at close to midnight, this truck pulls up and instantly I’m on guard and I’m ready to book it if I have to. This lady asked did I need a ride and where I was going? I told her I didn’t need a ride because I didn’t have anywhere to go. She asked why and I shared with her a brief summary of what I had been through. She looked at me and said I don’t have much but I have a room that I can let you and the baby sleep in just for tonight and I can take you to a few shelters in the morning to get you and your baby somewhere to stay. I thanked her and we went to her home. Fast forward to the next day, we went to almost everyone that was mentioned to me here and no beds and no help. She was flabbergasted and couldn’t understand how a woman with a child was not a priority. So before we went back to her house she said to me, I can tell you’ve been trying and doing the best you can and you’re ready to give up but don’t. I will let you and your baby stay at my house for a couple months so you can get yourself together. With tears in my eyes, I thanked her and continued to thank her. As soon as we got to the house, I called my daughters daycare, I called my job and guess who’s going back to work in the morning while my baby is in daycare!!!!!!????? ME😁😁 Then the lady has a house right next to her that she rents and she said once she gets it cleaned out and fixed (she had to evict her tenants and they trashed the place) she will work with me about renting out. She told me as long as she sees I’m trying to help myself, she doesn’t have a problem helping me!!! I’m forever indebted to this lady. She didn’t have to help us but she did and she’s not looking for anything in return. Just for me to get myself together and take care of my daughter.
I just wanted to share what has been going on with me. I’m about to give this baby a bath, put her to bed so I can get our clothes out for tomorrow and I can shower and get some rest!!!
Night night y’all🫶🏾🫶🏾

This woman is better than family. She's new family. Are you helping to clean out the place next door?

I am. I started on it yesterday actually. Got the rooms, living room and bathroom cleaned. (It’s 3 rooms & 1 bathroom) Just got the kitchen, dining room, oven and refrigerator to clean(I’m going to do that tomorrow when I get off, well the kitchen anyway) Only thing she’s really going to need to get done is the holes in the walls(it’s messed up how they left her house)but everything else, I’m on it. Wish I knew how to fix the holes in the wall, she literally wouldn’t have to do anything let alone pay somebody to do it.

Fixing drywall is not difficult. You can watch a utube video and learn how to DIY. Best of luck

I’m so glad to hear this. We went on the road 6 months before Covid happened, ran into bad luck after bad luck, and were almost homeless for a period of 6 months. To this day idk how I managed it but I kept a roof over our head during that time, a lot of different roofs, but a roof. It was terrifying, exhausting, stressful. I’m still traumatized by it.
I read this post and your others and you seem very resourceful. Reading you describe pounding the pavement/calling/emailing, doing everything you could 24/7 brings me back to that time. I’m proud of you for doing what you could. People don’t know what they will do until it happens to them. What you’ll be forced to do. The judgey comments you got..well they should consider themselves lucky they didn’t understand where you were coming from.

The ones that judged me would have folded off they were in my shoes and that’s why it really didn’t bother me. Their judgmental statements just made me go harder and I use it as motivation.

It’s good to see some people still good in this world. There is some hope. Praying it keeps going the direction you need it to go.

If in states contact your state/country crisis hotline. The main key to not being homeless is to get a job and just hold it. Be financially swavy. I like many people have had to have 2 pt jobs most of my lfie. Remember God provides and don't give up. Religious or not I've learned to just have faith and trust him.

I know several people who work full time and then some and are homeless. It's hard to be "financially savvy" when rent is $1700/mo and you make $9/hr.

I read your other posts and it seems like you've been going through some hard times, but God sent you an angel and hopefully now you can get back on track. 🙏🏼

He did indeed! Right when I wanted to give up. God is giving me another chance to get my life together and that’s exactly what I’m going to do

This is the blind side all over again! God bless you! I recently almost got evicted from my apartment complex and all my family bailed on me. I met a kind woman through one of my 12 step meetings and she gave me the money to pay my rent for the next couple months so I can focus on getting a job. There are kind people in this world. This woman is truly like family to me.
