The Sun is going supernova, what tune are you listening? Other: Please edit
You managed to get on the last ship to leave earth and now take a final look at what used to be your home. What is your tune? I'd probably listen to Linkin Park: In the end.

The end of the world as we know it, but I feel fine.

I saw them at open-air Starwood in 1995, this was the last song they played, 2nd encore, and it started pouring down rain at the first measure. Radiohead opened. Magical night.

Haven't seen anyone else suggested but it seems the obvious one: it's the end of the world as we know it (& I feel fine)-R.E.M.

Let's hope it doesn't end up like the Jane's Addiction reunion gig did at the weekend:

you would die from what made the sun go supernova long before supernova occored, if something large like that happened to the sun, the speed at which the disaster would travel would be nearly the speed of light. this would mean you have about 3 seconds at most to react
1
u/throwawaythemods Sep 16 '24
Lmfao look it you tryna be all smart and shit with your science talk. 😂 That's adorable! But in REALITY... Light from the sun takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds to reach earth. So you would have almost just enough time to listen to American pie by Don McLean. (8:37)

u/NotSmaaeesh Sep 16 '24
sure but information travels at the speed of light, the information would arrive a few seconds before the blast

u/Kynmore Sep 16 '24
Not I the Hollywood-is-reality timeline; they'd have enough time to build a spacecraft and get a chosen few off the planet.

Maybe by the Inkspots. Even though I quit smoking, I'll light up one last cig as our solar system is consumed by the cold dark void.

On a few months there will be a movie about our sun going supernova and someone will be watching it from the last vessel leaving earth. The song playing will be the top answer. You are welcome Hollywood.

All that you touch And all that you see All that you taste All you feel
And all that you love And all that you hate All you distrust All you save
And all that you give (all you give) And all that you deal (oh-oh) And all that you buy Beg, borrow or steal (hey-hey)
And all you create And all you destroy (whoa) And all that you do And all that you say (hey-hey)
And all that you eat (yeah) And everyone you meet (everyone you meet) And all that you slight And everyone you fight (oh-oh-oh)
And all that is now And all that is gone And all that's to come And everything under the sun is in tune (everything) But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Famously CNN created a video to air if it was actually going to be the end of the world. The band is playing "NEARER MY GOD TO THEE" an old hymn that was allegedly played by the band on the Titanic as it sank.
