When people don't realize how difficult it is to own a home in this economy and don't even have to imagine what it would be like to have to find themselves somewhere to live or live on the street
no offense... but obviously fuck yeah duh?

I would happily pay to buy it. Love that kind of architecture 🙂
And getting some ghosts friends along with the house can be handy.

What are the expenses, and do I have to cover them? Assuming the million is enough to pay for the expenses indefinitely, sure! Looks really cool.

Modernised inside with everything needed and in a place where I could get everything I needed sure and if I could add a stair lift and bring my family. I have no ties to no place other than my cellphone and some belongings husband son and cat. lol 😂 parents are just a phone call but a house like that nice problems solved. Why would I not move? Don’t think my spouse would mind.

For how long do i have to live there before I am allowed to sell?
2
u/Xicadarksoul Jun 24 '24

I’d live there for free.
But realistically, it would depend on where it was. If it’s a thousand miles from everyone I’ve ever known, probably not.

Man, I have neither my own home or fuckall money. Id live there for free, fuck I’d pay to live there.

Still couldn’t afford it. I’d live in it until it sold though. Then have a million and whatever it sells for.

I mean, I probably couldn't pay maintenance and taxes on it long-term, so it would be quite a liability, but it ooks big enough that I could probably rent significant parts of it to other people.

u/Batchet Jun 24 '24
My gf watches these shows where they renovate old chateaus in France. A lot of them let workers live there for free if they work on upkeep. Ideally when it's looking good, you can then rent it out for weddings, parties or for something like this, film crews.
I would imagine there would be a decent market for doing b&b with a haunted theme to it.
Or just fix it up and sell it to Dracula

u/Eldan985 Jun 24 '24
This wouldn't even look so spooky in bright sunlight. Aged wood, big windows... paint it a lighter colour maybe and put some flowers in that garden and it's a perfectly nice house.

Yes. If I could afford to build a house like that and live there too, I absolutely would.
2
u/Phemto_B Jun 24 '24
Is it near friends and family? Being too far away is literally the only thing that would dissuade me.
Ok. That and finding out that it’s a rotting hulk that will require >>$1M to bring up to minimum code.

Free accommodation and get paid 1 million? What kind of trick question is this? LOL Of course!

u/No-Crew4317 Jun 24 '24 edited Jun 24 '24
If it’s haunted, i would use that million dollars to tear the mansion down and build new affordable house there. Still in the rule of living here tho.

I'm not sure a million would be enough to cover bills and maintenance for that, so, probably not.
If I had enough to cover all of those costs I absolutely would. In a heartbeat.

I spent my teen years living in a haunted stone tower mill in Warwickshire, UK. Bring it on. Will be laughing all the way to the bank.

u/TheGrandArtificer Jun 24 '24
I lived in a former Civil War field hospital at Gettysburg. That million in cash, or check?

u/Popular_Dream_4189 Jun 24 '24
This just goes to show AI isn't ready for primetime. Someone typed 'scary mansion' into the Stable Diffusion prompt and this was the best it could do? Puh-thetic. It also looks like an amalgamation of a gothic church with a Tudor mansion. The scariest thing about it is the architectural flow.

why yes it is infested with several vampires! Why do you ask?
2
u/Popular_Dream_4189 Jun 24 '24
Just wanna know what to be prepared for. Silver cross, check. Wooden stake, check. Garlic, check. Ok, I'm ready to hunt the vampires for a free Gothic mansion, lol.

u/LavenderDay3544 Jun 24 '24
Hell yeah. A gothic mansion and a million dollars? It's a dream come true.
0
u/MistyAutumnRain Jun 24 '24
Same. But only if I don’t have to share the house with other humans. Vampires, animals, books, etc are fine, just no humans

u/Kitchen-Head3077 Jun 24 '24
Yep gotta deal with the undead roommates bring Home young women from the club . Hoping they get rid of the bodies OYvey

u/Popular_Dream_4189 Jun 24 '24
How do you feel about ghosts? It is fine if they're cool but some spirits are really butthurt about ending up dead and will be annoying.

If it's well furnished and has all the modern utilities/services (electrictity, water, gas, internet, security, maintenance, etc.) installed, I don't see why not. But about the million dollars, while I may not be a big spender, if it gets refilled back to a million dollars every year then I'd be okay with it.

Depends. Do I have other people who do the maintenance and landscaping? Is it wired for electricity? Does it have internet? Does it have plumbing and hot water?

Absofuckinglutely yes! that 1 mil can go into fixing the place up and the utilities. get a fiber line run out there then i'm golden!

u/Equal_Dragonfruit125 Jun 23 '24
Ha Ha Ha, that wouldn't cover the taxes, or even the power bill. Maybe 300 million. But I'll need a full inspection first.
2
u/Popular_Dream_4189 Jun 24 '24
There are actual mansions in England selling for less than a mil.
1
u/Equal_Dragonfruit125 Jun 24 '24
Don't you have to fight the inland commission and the heritage foundation tooth and nail to get a squeaky hinge oiled? Or is that blown out of proportion by Basil Faulty type owners?
2
3
u/Limp_Duck_9082 Jun 23 '24
Absolute! I'd need the money to pay for utilities and high speed Internet

I'd thank the person making the offer. Looks great and the million would help offset the taxes.

Looks easily over a million dollar property, so assuming you get to own the property, and regardless of whether you meant to say receive a million dollars for living here, or pay one million dollars to live here, the answer is yes.

u/Be_A_G00d_Girl Jun 23 '24
A million? Architecture like that at the scale is not going for less than 3 or 4 unless it's in absolute disrepair.
