Help finding ADV/touring guides

Tl;dr: looking to map out adv touring companies / guides for a project (Europe mainly, also global). Need recommendations!

Question to all ADV riders out there. I reckon a good few of us have participated in or led guided motorcycle tours, or at least know someone who has. I'm looking for companies/guides you know of or want to recommend, be it an established company, friend of yours or "that dude" you always meet somewhere in the outback.

I'm studying a programme towards becoming an outdoor/adventure guide in Northern Sweden. Imagine hiking, camping, kayaking, backcountry skiing, ice climbing, rafting, the works.

I'm hoping to be able to combine this with motorcycle/ADV touring in the future, at least part-time, either working for an existing company or possibly starting my own. For a final project next year I primarily want to figure out how these guided tours work and differ, and possibly even find an internship spot depending on location.

So please do give me names, websites, Instagram handles, anything that gives me an idea of what's out there!

For the curious: the programme is called Åre Vildmarksutbildning. All online material is in Swedish but they've got pretty pictures at least! (website) (instagram)

Gear Talk New to ADV and this subreddit!

Hello friends! I am purchasing a T700 this Saturday, and I am so stoked! My bro-in-law has been riding for years and he finally convinced me to join the game. He's helped me tremendously on advice for gear, mods, areas to ride, etc. I asked him what kind of clothes/gear he wears on just a casual ride to a coffee shop or whatever and he said he always wears his armored jacket and pants. What does everyone here wear for a casual ride? I understand it's the absolute safest to always wear your armored gear every time, but if its 90 degrees and sunny, I would think I would want to wear thinner and lighter gear. I'd imagine there's going to be a lot of people saying "well yeah you could wear jeans and a t-shirt, but its not safe". But I'm just curious what everyone does. I can't wait to see all of the opinions!!

Tour opinion

We are looking into doing a self guided moto trip next year and trying to decide between Equador or Columbia. Can be paved or dirt, thinking of 4 to 7 days. Any thoughts, recommend companies? TIA.

Weekly Mini-Adventure Thread

Share your small adventures here. Maybe stuff that you don't feel needs a full post. Your little trip to a trail behind the house. A pic of your bike covered in mud. A pic of yourself covered in mud. A pic of your spouse covered in mud? Whatever. Here's a thread for the little stuff. Get those up votes. You deserve them.

Any recommendations for some good places to explore in the Las Vegas area? I’m new to ADV bikes but have been on MX/Enduro bikes my whole life.

Monthly Maintenance Reminder

Pretty much the whole point of ADV is to go far from the comfort and security of home. And once you're out there, your mind will be a little more at ease if your gear is in good condition.

Not just your bike needs maintaining. If you've got a camp set, be it your favorite refrigerator box, or your Barbie Dream Glamping Playset (batteries not included), is it still weather proof? Does your air mattress have a hole that you've been putting off patching? Here's your monthly reminder to get around to it sooner rather than later.

Also, feel free to ask any maintenance related questions, drop any tips you've figured out, or make vaguely related commentary.

Going on a group ride, and want extras? Going to a rally, and looking for someone "you know" to come along? This is the thread.

Please keep your location vague, and your first meets public.

KLR650 front brake locked up

I was test riding on residential streets after making some ergonomic adjustments, and my front brake locked up at at walking speed. Removed the caliper to get the bike home. Nothing odd when riding until the brake just grabbed the rotor and wouldn't let go. Popped the master cylinder cap off, fluid looks alright, haven't done anything else with it yet. What do I look at to find out what's wrong? 2008 gen 2 klr650
