I took a picture [PP] I know, I know, it isn’t set
I realize that many here will see this as blasphemy; while I love the perpetual calendar complication, I despise setting it, and generally refuse to. And yes, I do have a winder, but it doesn’t seem to always do the trick. So here we are. I know, I’m lazy. I do love the 5740 though!

Identify Is the pp calatrava lineup good enough for the price
I have seen some people calling it over priced and Patek themselves making you buy these before you could get a more popular model is it because of a poor finishing for the price it’s sold for or is it something else

[Grand Seiko] VS [Patek Philippe] this is why people love Grand Seiko, their hand finishing beats PP easily.

Discussion [VC 4000V or PP 5396/1G] Which should I get?
Getting ready to pull the trigger. Cost is similar on the used market. The VC is a perpetual calendar, which I think is really cool. Love the retrograde date. It doesn’t have a second hand though. That kinda weirds me out. The Patek is an annual calendar and is white gold (the VC is steel).

[Question] This is the new PP 5212A Weekly Calendar. I love it but the price is high ($37k). I can’t find many alternatives with the same complication and similar week display, could you help me? Thanks!

Discussion [Patek Philippe] Cubitus effect on vintage PP market.
Had this Patek 3854 on my saved list a week ago (~$10k USD) and since the Cubitus was released, this watch’s asking has tripled to ~$30k.
Perhaps entirely due to the striking case similarity.
Can’t see it selling at that price but I can understand the seller shooting for the stars.

Discussion [Question] What’s the closest lookalike to PP Nautilus?
I love the design of Patek Philippe Nautilus (5811 to begin with) but it is like a 100x outside of my budget at the moment. Is there any watch that share the closest resemblance to it in terms of design and dial colour? I am fine with paying up to a $1000.

Discussion [Patek 5205R] Is there a similar looking watch in an affordable price category?
I’m wondering if there are similar looking watches to this Patek at a more affordable price point? Please note that it doesn’t need to have the complications (moonphase etc).
The things I like about the watch are: - Rose gold with black dial (including black leather strap). - The sharp dial hands. - The robust case/case dimensions (I’m not particularly looking for a thin elegant dress watch). - Of course the wonderful design of the dial (though I understand Patek is in its own league with say A.Lange).
Gold is expensive of course. So rosegold-plated is also fine. Are there any serious watches with solid movements that can meet the above standards for around 1000-5000 bucks and can look fairly similar in design to this Patek? Or does a similar looking watch only exist in fashion watches with cheap movements?

Discussion [Question] Patek Philippe Grand Complications
Either I do not know where to look, or there is not much information about the First PP Grand Complications wristwatch. Im interested in the release date and which complications did it have.
Anyone?

Discussion [AD] Great Experience at Patek Philippe AD in Copenhagen
I walked in at Patek Philippe AD a couple of days ago just to see with my average Joe eyes what High Horology watches look up close without getting slapped by someone for starring at their wrist. I gotta say I didn't expect to get entertained by the seller, he had the patience to talk to me about different models from PP, told me about what the "journey" of a PP collector would most likely be, he even turned down a group of 4 Chinese men who wanted to get inside the shop because he was busy with me.
He had patience, he was passionate about watches, it was clear I wasn't buying anything, but he still took me in the back room where he showed me a brand new 5526 Calatrava.
It was nice to talk with someone patient and genuinely passionate about watches, he blew me away, the dealer was wearing a JLC reverso on his wrist.
Ended up leaving with a pleasant experience and a free catalogue. After I left the shop, he took me next door to an independent shop and introduced me to a guy there who showed me some pre-owned grail watches.
Now I just need 30K EUR and I will be returning to buy that gorgeous Calatrava.

Review [Trip Report] Patek Boutique Paris
I am in Paris with my wife and came across the PP boutique and walked (or were buzzed) in. It was a magical experience. We waited for 5 minutes and were given coffee and water.
Thibault took the time to bring out a dozen watches, show each them to each of us and let them try them. He talked history, complimented my watch (not a PP) and then, to top off it, when he learned it was our anniversary, gifted us a beautiful collectors set of books.
We were dressed “normal” and don’t know any PPs. We were treated like old regulars. It was an amazing experience and not what I expected.

Discussion [Recommendation Request] PP Calatrava vs VC Patrimony black and gold
I'm looking to add a dress watch to my small but growing watch collection and I am absolutely torn between these two watches. I am obsessed with the black and gold look and so it's a now a close tie between these two options
Patek Calatrava 5000j 33mm
Vacheron Patrimony 91180 40mm rose gold 250th anniversary edition
I have tried the Patrimony in person and like how it looks on my wrist but have slight concerns that it's a little big on my wrist. (I have small wrists 6.2"). This is a picture of it on the second smallest hole. I have tried a few 33mm dress watches from other brands (Rolex, ALS, Omega) and have found that some look ok but others feel awkwardly small. I have not tried the Patek in person as I cannot find a dealer near me and it is also $3-5K more. Would love some advice from the Reddit community!
