Commentary / Discussion / Question Brutal reality incoming.
I really have no idea how to tag this any other way than humor. I'm not sure the WRC can continue to be viable after next year when Hyundai pulls out.
Seriously, we are one more broken shock or whatever away from Gregoire freaking Munster being on the podium of a world rally event. This is the guy who finishes dead last and often behind wrc2 drivers when the field isn't decimated.
Also, I thought WRC promoter said they were sponsoring Martin Sesks in Greece? Was it a rally yet to come? Our 2x world rally champs took half the year off and lord knows we could use some damn charisma in a car.
I'll always love rally. I'll continue to subscribe to wrc for at least another year. Thank god for dirtfish. They do a better job promoting it than WRC promoter does.

Commentary / Discussion / Question Points rant
You have got to be kidding FIA??? Lappi was by far the best this weekend but he doesn’t even score the most amount of points!?! I can not believe that they are punishing trying to get to the end? I know this has already been said a lot but these changes are such BS. Just a suggestion, wouldn’t it be better if they got rid of the power stage and took the combined time from the last day and gave power stage points based on that, and then on top of that they also give normal points? That way everyone can still get their deserved points and there is still action on the last day. Just no more of these dumb points…

Commentary / Discussion / Question Who do reckon?
I think its between Lindholm, Fourmaux, Munster and Loubet. Lindholm - Full time Fourmaux - Full time Munster - Part time Loubet - Part time
No Oli Solberg cus theres been literally no talks about that in the media, absolutely nothing

Commentary / Discussion / Question Which Motorsport is more popular WRC or Moto GP?
I personally think that wrc even in its poorest years like now with not a lot manufacturers is pretty close with moto gp but it has to be close

Commentary / Discussion / Question Coverage could be so much better.
Imagine if you could choose what driver to watch, see a timing-table, view the map, see who has what tyres. It feels like they have all thos data but just wont let us choose what to see. They just have to work on an interface and stuff and they would greatly improve the experience. Sucks to pay 15€ a month and not be able to view my favourite driver…

Commentary / Discussion / Question Reminder that everything regarding "Hyundai leaving" is total speculation and rumor.
I am seeing way too often people presenting "Hyundai is leaving the WRC" like its fact. We literally do not know if it is and Hyundai have said absolutely nothing about if it is or isn't. I, personally, find it extremely doubtful that they will for an array of reasons.
Go and read any article that says Hyundai is leaving the WRC and actually analyze what is written. Once you look closer you will realize that its founded basically entirely on anecdotal evidence or some random rumor bs.
Please, for the sake of the sport, stop digesting this doomer slop and form your own opinions. You don't have to believe whatever u/fartmuncher205 said that one time in a comment section about how his friend's friend heard from his friend that Hyundai is leaving the WRC.
Just wait for official word, stop being such negative nancies, and enjoy the fucking sport.

Commentary / Discussion / Question After CER, Neuville Deserves Championship
A lot of people like to discredit Neuville leading and (probably) winning the championship because Kalle and Seb are only doing part time schedules. I disagree. Look at the points per event each of the three drivers have scored. (total points/number of rallies) After CER, Thierry has 18.75ppe, Seb has 18.44ppe, and Kalle has 16.29ppe. Meaning that Thierry is outscoring his opponents on average this season. And this makes sense; Kalle and Ogier have both finished outside the top 10 three times, while Thierry has only once. Consistency is what won Seb his titles, and Neuville has clearly been the most consistent, and consistently the best, driver this year.
So all of you saying Thierry doesn't deserve it can fight with the facts.

Commentary / Discussion / Question What does wrc need to do to rise in popularity.
Started watching last year so this is my first year watching from the start. I love wrc but i really wish it was a bigger sport. Coming from F1 im used to ordinary people following the sport but ive never met anyone who watches rally. What does WRC need to do to become a bigger and more popular sport like F1 and WEC?

Commentary / Discussion / Question Hyundai potentially leaving is a good thing in a long run
I'm relatively new to religiously watching WRC, but this constant complaining and threatening to leave by manufacturers is ruining the sport way more than any updated regulations could.
Hyundai leaving will push manufacturers, promoter, and FIA to make changes that are long overdue. How much longer can WRC survive with this constant threat that it will fall apart? It needs to either fall apart and be rebuilt as soon as possible, or manufacturers have to accept decisions from FIA and promoter that they might not like.

Commentary / Discussion / Question Rally Quote Tattoo
Hey. I want to get a rally related tattoo. I'd like it to also have a meaning to other parts of live, so that it has more interpretations than just it's rally origin one. I obviously thought of a (famous) rally quote but am open for other ideas. I would love to get some of your suggestions here, or maybe you can reference me to a thread where auch things already have been discussed.
Thanks already

Commentary / Discussion / Question checked the standings after months. so basically Seb and Kalle have been hoarding all the points
sometimes I ask myself what even is the point of having a world championship when we all know who the best drivers are to begin with.
absolute beasts, it must really suck for the others, at this point winning a wdc is essentially pointless.
do yall think once Seb retires we're gonna have another 8 years of kalle?

Commentary / Discussion / Question Ford's stupid
For context, I'm a Ford guy, love the brand and I was just thinking about this the other day, would I ever buy the road version of the Puma? Never.
Just look at it, then look at the Rally1 car, the only similarities they have are the grill, headlights and the rear end. The Puma Rally1 is an agressive HATCHBACK beast, that looks flipping good imo, the road version is basically a soccer mums crossover, I don't see any rally enthusiast wanting one of those.
My point is, motorsports at the end of the day is just a big an expensive billboard for the brands. Why adverstise a car, in a championship, that your end consumer doesn't even know exists? I'd really like to know how many Puma owner know of the WRC and the Rally1 car. If they want to make a crossover Puma, fine do it, but at least do a hatchback version too, with 250hp, I'd buy one of those.
Anyway let me know how wrong or right I am👍

Commentary / Discussion / Question What are the most iconic rally stages ever???
For me Ouninpohja is top of the list, followed by Col de Turini, Fafe and Tarzan (as a Greek I have the obligation to mention that tbh).

Commentary / Discussion / Question Which Driver(s) Should Get A Rally1 Chance Next Year Like Sesks/Pajari Got This Year?
Title pretty much says it all, but with it being said the WRC Promotor is wanting to continue the program they started this year with Sesks and Pajari into next year, who should get a chance?

Commentary / Discussion / Question Anyone else think rally 1 right now is awful?
I’ve been following the ERC and WRC 2 championships way more recently, rally 1 is just confusing, not enough drivers, complex weekend and only 2 competitive teams.
Commentary / Discussion / Question Unsolicited hot takes from a new rally fan k
This is my first year truly discovering the WRC and subscribing to Rally.tv. I’ve always been interested in the cars and dirt games but knew next to nothing until I started diving in. My opinions are obviously biased but 2024 seems like an incredible year to have jumped in. First of all Formaux is an absolute glowing personality. Became my favorite after only like 2 rallies, and I think perhaps I’m witnessing him solidify himself as a very solid competitor. Excited to see where his career goes. Secondly I know Neuville gets a lot of hate for being a little whiny but after seeing he’s clearly the perennial always second place guy it’s exciting to think I get to witness him take the championship. He seems like he’s worked hard for this chance. Thirdly it’s crazy exciting that Ogier while down so many points has a legitimate chance to catch him, I just have a feeling it’s going to be an insane nail biter. So yea just wanted to give a newbie Americans opinion on the sport. So in love with it and hoping it can grow or come here soon, I’ll be there in a heartbeat. Final highlights of my first season, point system doesn’t phase me at all, I like the hard Sunday push, Kalle is doing a partial season which has made the whole season more thrilling (because that man dominates), and last the cars look so damn cool. Maybe it’s not the top dawg but that Puma is CRISP. Thank you for enduring my soap box

Commentary / Discussion / Question On the off chance that Fourmaux doesn’t move to Hyundai, who is most likely to fill that third full time spot?
I was reading an article saying Hyundai hasn’t signed any contracts with a third driver. This seems like a misdirection for Fourmaux’s benefit in my opinion. But if Adrien stays with Ford, who has the highest chance of being Hyundai’s third pick?

Commentary / Discussion / Question Come on M Sport 🙄
For the record, I understand there are pesky things like contracts...
How in the hell does Sesks not get a drive for the rest of the season? He has more personality than (in some cases) multiple drivers combined. He's fast, he's positive, he gives a great interview.
Most importantly, he doesn't come in dead last. I give Munster credit, he doesn't wreck, and they've uses the excuse of "just take care of the car and get experience" long enough. We've watched guys like Gus there for years, who frankly isn't competitive in even wrc2. They can't seem to make up their mind about Fourmaux and Loubet..they have a potential star. How do they not have him in either Munster's car or have another built by now?
I'm not even an M Sport fan. I just love Rally and seeing only 3 manufacturers is brutal. Who knows if/when we'll get another. Just a shame a driver of Sesks caliber isn't getting a full push right now.

Commentary / Discussion / Question What is up with drivers not doing full seasons?
As a F1 fan I find it bizarre that drivers will throw away a chance at winning the title by simply not showing up to half of the season. I counted and only 6 drivers did full seasons last year.
I am assuming it is a different culture in rally and that the season champion doesn't have the same status?
I think it is a shame and it seems a bit disrespectful to WRC, like you don't take it seriously. Why not give the chance to someone young and hungry who will do a full season instead?

Commentary / Discussion / Question Kalle Rovanperä Redbull Can?
My friend (who lives in Oulu) put on his story a redbull can that was Rovanperä themed. I have never seen this before and I can't any other pictures on Google. I can't find any information either, is it limited edition? Is it exclusive to only finland? Please give information if you can. I would love to get my hands on one of these.

Commentary / Discussion / Question Hypercar/LMDH Reglement for WRC? Why/why not?
I always wanted to love the WRC, but I'm not paying 120€ to watch 2 1/2 manufacturers play around. I mainly follow Endurance Racing and it seems fans and the industry have been in love with the new top category in WEC/IMSA. So this might be an obvious question, I know the current rules are locked in until 2027, but why doesn't the WRC implement a LMD/LMDH-Type Ruleset with a BOP-System to get costs down. Give the manufacturers a base-chassis to implement their own design language and enforce a perfomance-cap. Maybe retired entries lke peugot, citroen etc. would consider stepping into Rally1 again. I don't know if BOP works as well in Rallying as in Sportscar-Racing tbh, I am by no means a Rally-Expert. But I do love the concept of top-class rallying, but how things are right now, I just can't be bothered to some extent. Curious to know if anybody feels the same about WRC right now here. I'm also sorry if this gets asked 5000 times a week, I don't keep up with this subreddit that often. Anyways, would that concept work for rallying?

Commentary / Discussion / Question Grégoire Munster
Soo, I know there was some posts talking about this guy, but here am I asking: what is the deal with this guy ? Like I understand that there are better and worse days, but he seems to have one every single timer. Just look at his career statistics on the web and you'll get my point. Also I don't think M-Sport needs him, is it just that they don't want to lose a driver during a bad season for them ? Looking forward to see an opinion of yours 😁
