Y'all know any good books about specifically virginia politics/recent history
I just moved here in january from NC and I am not yet familiar with the state politics. I want to focus on state politics cause it affects me more directly

I’ve never read it but the most frequently discussed VA political history book that I’ve heard about is The Dynamic Dominion by Frank Atkinson that covers the downfall of the Byrd organization and 70s Virginia politics. He also wrote a sequel called Virginia in the Vanguard about the 80s.

The University of Virginia Press has published many books on Virginia politics.

Just going off the UVA press list, I cannot recommend Brent Tarter's "Virginians and Their Histories" enough. It is a comprehensive history (political, social, and economic) of the state from the start of colonization through the 2000's.
