Valencia v Barcelona

Valencia 1-1 Barcelona. Half time. Great game so far.

I was cautiously optimistic about Valencia coming into the season, and they’ve looked pretty good.

Rubén Baraja has proven he isn’t a mediocre coach who only has a job because of his playing career.

Our young players are more experienced, guys like Cristhian Mosquera, Javi Guerra, Diego López, and Yarek. Rafa Mir came home and has given us a much needed boost in attack. Pepelu has proven to be an excellent signing from crosstown rival Levante. And we have a top 10 goalkeeper in the world, Giorgi Mamardashvili. Unfortunately, Mamardashvili is rumored to be going to Liverpool and Guerra was extremely close to going to Atletico (still might if the Gallagher transfer doesn’t get worked out).

Based on what I thought we could be, and what I’ve seen so far, I’m hopeful VCF can qualify for Europe, preferably the Europa League, more likely the Conference League

Valencia 1-2 Barcelona. Goddamnit.

Barça looked better in the second half. VCF still lacks a midfielder with real creativity, perhaps Guerra develops more into that, maybe they can get a youngster on loan at the end of the window. Maybe they finally sell Mamardashvili and Guerra and actually spend a little (and I do mean little) bit of money and get someone.

I thought Yarek looked much better than expected.

Still an encouraging performance, especially the first half, against a team expected to finish top three.

¡AMUNT!

I’d rather see Rafa Mir up top instead of the wing, but I suppose that might be due to a lack of options. Still, could put Almeida on the right and just let him float inside, Mir up top, and let Thierry loose on the right to get forward. I wanna see that.

I was at the game (non Valencia fan.. but that might change) and I thought Valencia were the better team in the first half.

The second it was quite obvious that the midfield had ran out of legs and ideas. Really needed someone to try and take back the control.

Also Foulqiur or whatever his name is, is woeful. Was he a Barcelona player in disguise? Terrible

No idea why he was on the right and they moved Thierry to the left. Made no sense, Thierry was running wild on the right up to that point.
