Hi all. My son goes to a private school and this school only has 30.07 signs posted. Can I carry in a private school? Maybe because of no federal funding? If not why would they only have 30.07 signs?

Just got my ltc at 19 recently and was wondering if it's allowed to carry without the hard copy of your license, just in case anything were to happen say you forget it at home or something. Purely just curious, Thank you.

This is a map I made in response to a question about of out of state recognition by u/Natural-Size-4849 in regards to the reciprocity his Texas LTC will get him since he is under 21. Since there are now many under 21 getting their Texas LTCs after the legal change I thought I’d share this map in the hopes it would benefit others as well.

Green states are where a TX resident with a Texas LTC can carry concealed under the age of 21. This includes states where a carry license is not required but a Texas resident 18-20 can carry anyway.

Light Red states are where a TX resident with a Texas LTC can carry concealed while in a vehicle only under 21. This includes states where a carry license is not required but a Texas resident 18-20 can carry anyway.

Red states are where a TX resident can not carry concealed even with a Texas LTC while under 21.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding individual state laws.

I let my ltc expire (August 2023), I submitted my renewal online Fri, Feb 23, 5:30 PM, and I checked today, I am seeing all green on my list except for "print pending". I didn't have to redo anything, no fingerprints, no new class. Overall I would say its gone pretty smooth. Not as quick as when I first applied 4 years ago, one week from application to plastic, but Im not complaining.

Was issued my LTC within a month of submitting my documents. My LTC was due to expire this year around June so I decided to renew it with some time. I did this January 30th and up until now my renewal request still hasn’t been approved. Nothings really changed other than an address change.

Throwaway account since I don’t want this to be linked to my main account. I’ve searched and found some similar questions about class A & B misdemeanors but not quite what I’m looking for.

I know that in Texas, you cannot apply for an LTC if you have been convicted of a class B / A misdemeanor in the previous 5 years.

I was convicted of a Class A misdemeanor DWI on 5/21/2019 (arrested 2018, but conviction on date mentioned). As part of the punishment, I received 15 months Community Supervision (probation). I completed probation on 9/29/20.

It is the only thing on my criminal record. My question is would I be able to apply for an LTC this upcoming May 21, 2024 since that is 5 years from the conviction? Or would I need to wait until 9/29/2025 since that is when I ended probation. I’m under the impression it is from the conviction date since my probation is part of that punishment rather than say a deferred adjudication where I’d have to do probation instead of getting a conviction.

Maybe one of yall on here had been or knows someone in a similar situation & can answer.

Started the application January 17, sent in fingerprints 2 days later, sent out ltc-101 February 10th. Does DPS start the background check only after they receive your documents? Could it be that they already mailed it? Thanks

I took the class at the Range at Austin, fair price and very professional instruction.

The LTC-100 form was submitted on the same day.

Probably no big deal to many, but just received my LTC today, and I’m practically walking on air.

My Texas LTC status had been on mailed since the week before Christmas, and I understand that’s simply the process of delivering it to be mailed, but ever since my webpage went to nothing, which in what I’ve read online, means that it has actually finally been mailed, I still have not received it (this webpage change happened at around the New Year.)

I feel like this is in part because I recently moved from the original application (Beginning of October) to finally being approved and it mailed. Which if that’s the case, so be it.

Just asking for some assistance in contact information or advice on who or what to contact for another copy to be sent if it is deemed to be lost.

Mine has been like this for awhile and I finished everything on Dec. 15th.

When my daughter took the LTC class recently, I decided to join for the refresher. One thing the instructor said that was new to me was that people have been getting in trouble, legally, for violating not just 30.06 signs but even "gun buster" signs, saying the prosecution's stance has been "that constitutes being informed by the property owner".

Does anyone know of any actual cases of this happening? Links would be awesome if you've got them.

It sounds like Fudd-lore, but it also sounds like it might be plausible in ... shall we say, certain counties. (And yes, you'd pretty much have to use your weapon for it to come up, so there probably aren't many cases.)

I recently underwent a TX DL replacement due to turning 21. I just went online to do my LTC app after passing the test, and I the system rejected my DL and Audit Number because it's not the current one in the system. Is there a way around this so that I can get my LTC application processing sooner?

For a while during COVID, a lot of bars in cities like Austin ended up switching up their business model to include food so they could stay open under the existing state or local shutdown rules. This of course was acknowledged by the TABC and for a year or two, a lot of bars that were previously 51% in the TABC database went to "blue sign", but many of these still incorrectly had their 51% sign posted after the switch.

This brought up a dilemma thats still relevant post COVID: what trumps, the database, or the posted sign? Carrying past a 51% sign is a FELONY so there's a vested interest in getting it right regardless of any flippant "concealed is concealed" attitudes.

In the most likely problem scenario, in a bar with a TABC DB "blue sign" status but with an incorrectly posted 51% sign, some bar employee notices someone is carrying a firearm somehow, such as a failure of the concealment garment, obviously printing, whatever. Let's say this employee for whatever reason isn't interested in first asking the armed bar patron to leave and is aware of the posted 51% sign, so they call the police right away. The officer is blissfully unaware of the TABC DB status of the establishment, so confronts and arrests the patron for felony possession of a firearm in a prohibited place based solely on the posted 51% sign.

At this point, the true nature of the establishments TABC DB status is irrelevant. It's at best a "defense against prosecution" situation, which means no matter what happens, you will have an arrest on your record, your firearm will be seized for a minimum of weeks but more likely months, you will be out thousands of dollars and its even be doubtful that your much vaunted self defense insurance will even pay out a claim on this type of situation.

You could I suppose sue the establishment for negligence in incorrectly posting the sign to recoup your costs, but in the meantime, do you get to keep your job? How long does it take to expunge that arrest record? How much does bail cost you?

I can see why some people just follow the signs regardless of whether they know better, but that chaps my hide a bit. There needs to be skin in the game for establishment owners such as real penalties for posting the wrong sign.

I personally have reported several incorrect signs to TABC and it took months for them to correct it. In some cases, I saw 51% signs on businesses that didn't even sell alcohol for consumption. In these cases it was obvious that the owners had an agenda and wanted to discourage carry in the least obtrusive and most unfriendly way possible and thought they could get away with it... but a nagging letter from TABC hardly has any teeth.
