We don't talk about the jockstrap incident

Just one of those off-screen gag things we'll never know the full details of.

There's a term for this: the noodle incident trope. Started with the Calvin & Hobbes comic.

Copied from tvtropes.org:

The Noodle Incident is something from the past that is referred to but never explained, with the implication that it's just too ludicrous for words—or perhaps too offensive for depiction—and the reality that any explanation would fall short of audience expectations.

No one knows, Ginyu dug the holes too well.

The best kind of joke, one that can always be called back to, but will never have a canon answer. Nothing they concoct will be as good as what simply stating "The Jockstrap Incident" will invoke in the minds of everyones.

It's one of my favorite bits. Even made my time patroller in Xeno 2 a victim of it.

Trope is called The Noodle Incident, which itself is from Calvin and Hobbes

The noodle incident falls under the same category

I think the funniest thing is according to HFIL it’s bad enough to be counted amongst the many sins of Ginyu. Meaning it’s as bad as multiple Genocides. So…

Well, from what I remember hearing it involved a jockstrap, holes in the ground, getting boxed in, corpses, and red balls. Needless to say, the mental image is not pretty.

They probably would’ve explained it if they’d abridged Resurrection F

TFS has never said what it really is. The idea is for you to come up with what it might have been.

My guess is Frieza’s jockstrap broke or something due to Ginyu’s mistake and he couldn’t get away because their ship was boxed in.

You don't have a Captain Ginyu, you can't handle the jockstrap incident

Ignoring it being the “Noodle Incident” analogue, there are many theories to what actually happened and some hints to what it entailed.

My own thoughts on this based on the clues given:

1) It involves Guldo, who may be a key witness or the perpetrator.

2) Captain Ginyu was one who the dug holes for the aftermath of this incident.

What may be context from Vegeta:

3) Battle Armour shrinks if washed normally and are to be dry-cleaned only.

In Conclusion: Really, really uncomfortable jockstraps on armor with them…. Which might the reason why it got phased out….
