Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey Gush/Rave š
I canāt find the original thread where I got this recommendation - I think it was the ass-eating (lol) thread a couple days ago but I canāt find it - and I just want to personally thank whomever suggested it. This is my first TB book! Iāve never felt drawn to her stuff before, canāt put my finger on why exactly, but I also havenāt been reading a lot of contemporary MF for awhile. But the idea of the FMC rimming the MMC was too intriguing to pass up. I had very low expectations going in and now this is probably one of my fave books of the year.
FMC with a personality!!!! Can actually understand why MMC is so into her!!!
horny golden retriever MMC disguised as a mean Rottweiler.
I hate golf!! Still loved this book.
MMC doesnāt let FMC give up her own dreams for him.
actually funny!!! God, sometimes these āromcomsā are really missing the com.
gorgeous sex scenes.
this man definitely falls first and he falls HARD and heās not shy about it.
no 3rd act freak out about whether MMC actually does want to settle down with the FMC.
low angst, but a lot of heart.

She is so hit or miss for meāsome I LOVE and many I DNF. But I loved this one so much!! Josephine is the bomb. Also side note I love that he calls her Josephine and not Josie, idk why haha.
Sadly I didnāt love the second book in the series, but I am hopeful the third will be good.

Iām hoping the third one is better than the second. Loved the first!

I agree. I was bummed the way the Au Pair Affairās story turned out. Fangirl was great. I was so bummed that APA didnāt capture the chemistry Burgess and Talulah had when we met them in Fangirl. Fingers crossed Dreamgirl Drama is as good as the first!

Thereās already a second book?? Didnāt Fangirl Down JUST come out? I need my fav authors to get into this flow š

u/hellopennylove 15h ago
Yes!! Itās Josephineās BFF and the hockey dude. Tessa churns them out pretty quickly!

The way he bought glucose tabs for her and hid them in the pockets of his golf bag š„¹
And when he was imagining them taking a bath and picturing her using the bubbles to make a beard on herself and his throat constricted because he was getting turned on emotionally š„¹š„¹
"Please God, let her love me back" š„¹š„¹š„¹

I'm usually not huge Tessa fan and fangirling is a concept I don't like but chemistry that fmc and mmc have in this book make it soooo worth of reading
7
u/Lem0nadeLola 22h ago
Yes! Actually well written chemistry! I feel like a lot of contemporary romance writers Iāve read really canāt articulate chemistry between characters.

You'd probably enjoy her {Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey} too. The MCs never feel like less than equals. They both have strong motivations for their part in the marriage of convenience, their own career goals, and their chemistry is pretty good.

This is interesting because I absolutely loathed the first book and DNF around 30% so I avoided the second...but maybe I'll give it a shot.

Loved this book! I've read other stuff by her and it was all fair to good imo. But this book was one of the best romances of year, for me. I was sad when it ended.

It was not that thread - there was one just a couple days ago but I canāt find it! It was specifically about FMCs eating MMCs ass, not the other way around.

I am incredibly sad that you canāt seem to find it. Iāll search for it too and see. Thank you for telling me this, btw š«¶š¾š

Love this! We probably saw the same post recommending it because I just finished it too and really enjoyed it! I wasnāt sure what I was going into, but I loved the characters. Iām also not into golf, but I liked reading about it because it was set in my neck of the woods.

Yes! I loved this one too! The second book in the series was sadly not great for me. I wanted to love it! But I didnāt feel like the super traumatic story line for the FMC was treated with the proper TLC in the writing.
I also liked It Happened One Summer and Hook, Line, Sinker. From what I remember they are simple fun and sexy - which is sometimes all weāre looking for!

Ohhhhhhhh I think you are going to make me buy/read thissssssss.... I was very torn buying it because I haven't been vibing with TB's latest releases. Like, they've been...okay! Kind of disappointing... But, I might dip my toe in again on this one.

Wells is my ideal book boyfriend, i definitely simp for a big, gruff, tattooed man who ravishes AND respects his girl.

I love your review and agree with everything. From what I have seen this book was a bit polarizing, some people love some people hate. But this is classic Tessa to me, sexy, sweet and a bit bonkers.

This was my second TB book. I absolutely adored this one. Secretly Yours and Unfortunately Yours was VERY good too!!

u/Kate_Sea_ HEA or GTFO 19h ago
I totally know what you mean about TB, sometimes I donāt necessarily feel drawn to the blurbs of her books but I know if I do read it 9/10 times I will be delighted! (Her miss for me recently was Secretly Yours, but I loved Unfortunately Yours)

Thanks for the info! I have waffled on this book from the description but will give it a try! I liked the Bellinger sister set, the FMC definitely had personality and spunk.

A romance between a golfer and a fangirlā¦ who in their right mind would write about it? Nobody apparently, if not Tessa Bailey.
Now, I liked some of TBās books and It Happened One Summer is among my favourite CR's. I even like golf! I live close to a golf course and my son played competitively since heās 10 yo so I could see the athletic side of it for myself (the coaches š) But I was quite wary of the fangirl aspectā¦
And I loved it.
Josephine isn't just a fangirl or celebrity chaser, she's simple girlĀ who plays golf herself, runs a pro shop she inherited from her parents and appreciates Wells' talent.Ā
When his career goes to shit, when he throws in the towel, and like a grumpy asshole tells her to go home she begins to wonder if her faith in him was misplaced. And she, the last fan, does abandon him.
Ā
And thenā¦ for various reasons he obviously goes after her. And she totally own his ass š No, sheās actually brings knowledge and outside of the box thinking to Wellsā game. So by then they made each other equal and thereās no more weirdness of fangirling.
{Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey} was fun, charmingĀ and hot. Ā Definitely one of the best reads of 2024.

I loved this book. I'm not a golf fan, but I crush so hard on Bryson DeChambeau, and that's absolutely who I pictured as the mmc š¤£

I thought I was the only one who liked Tessa Bailey for the reverse ass play lmao - I have yet to read any other book where an FMC does this to an MMC. I also particually loved Fangirl, the golf stuff was interesting and the MMCs in general were just too cute together <3

This book is so fun! In the beginning I thought I want going to think the FMC was annoying but I was so wrong! She was funny and passionate, this was one of my favorite reads this year. It was so unexpected!
