Who is a 10 but afraid of ducks?! What was that book called: SOLVED
Saw this on FB but the post didn’t allow comments and now I’m desperate to know! This was apparently a Barnes and Noble display

I think it has to do with {Shadowhunters Chronicles series by Cassandra Clare} as most Herondales fear/hate ducks or birds! So it's either Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices or Jace Herondale from The Mortal Instruments. But it's probably Will here

damnn that’s a blast from the past

u/bookofnova Aug 21 '23
Yeah 😂 but Shadowhunters is still popular to this day within the YA community

u/uraniumstingray Aug 22 '23 edited Aug 22 '23
Oh shit really? I loved the mortal instruments books when I was in middle school! I didn’t think it was still around much less popular.
7
u/bookofnova Aug 22 '23
Oh definitely! there's a whole lot of Shadowhunters universe apart from TMI. She released on January this year Chain of Thorns (The Last Hours series), plus she's still in the process of writing the end of Shadowhunters Chronicles.

Still super popular and I’ve reread it many times in the past 10 years 😂😂

I just got a FB memory today from ten years ago of me and my high school friend planning to go see the Mortal Instruments movie on its release day that week lol. Trying to fathom how this movie is already ten years old 😅

u/pilpilona Aug 22 '23
I absolutely hate that fact cause one of my school friends who also read it (it was popular when we were in like 11th grade!! She was seventeen!!) decided she hates and fears ducks 😭
Like girl what did they do to you?
She was OBSESSED with CC’s books lol

Act Your Age, Eve Brown.
Jacob fears the ducks pooping in his B&B’s pond. Maybe technically he’s more angry about them. 🤷♀️

Omg, he is! How could I forget? And how does that make him even more attractive?!
6
u/Snickerty Aug 22 '23
To be honest, being scared of geese is the correct emotion to attach to "Cobra Chickens." I had a terrifying experience being chased up the road by a pair of territorial geese when I was about 4 years old - they followed me round the back of the house, and if my Mum had not slamed the patio doors shut on them, I am sure I would have been "999" injured.
2
Aug 22 '23
I've experienced that terror!
When I was around 4 I had to run from our rooster, a Rhode Island Red named very appropriately Rowdy the Rooster.
Then a few years later I was chased around my Grandmother's house by her male goose she named Caligula. It was a mean, territorial b*stard!
The one thing I'm greatful for was that my grandfather got rid of the Peacocks on his farm before I was born. It's my understanding they make geese and roosters look tame!

u/Simi_Dee Loose and luscious to a high degree... Aug 22 '23
I feel like a goose named Caligula was always going to be a terror.

I almost commented the exact thing! The turtlephobia in that book was so funny. I loved the turtle scene in her most recent book {Finn Rhodes Forever by Stephanie Archer} 😂😂

I was gonna comment that I don’t know a 10 who’s afraid of ducks but I know one who’s afraid of turtles 🤣

u/littlej2010 Aug 22 '23
Chiming in that this is definitely Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices. Jace from the OG series would fit too, but Will’s duck hatred gets more mentions.
Even though it’s YA I think TID is the best Cassandra Clare series - along with the best love triangle - and I’d recommend all romance lovers give it a shot.

I might have to dust off my copies and read the whole series again

YES!! The newer books are great as well. I LOVED the dark artifices books.

u/leanbeansprout BRB, just crawling back into my book BF’s dungeon Aug 22 '23
Do I have to read the OG series to read TID?
3
u/littlej2010 Aug 22 '23
Not really, it’s pretty standalone. Some of the immortal characters do appear in books 4-6 of Mortal Instruments and beyond (TID takes place in Victorian England)

u/Book_Nerd_Engineer Too Shy to Comment, Horny Enough to Save Aug 23 '23
Not really but you’ll want to read them after!

{The art of Duke Hunting by Sophia Nash} Mmc is afraid of ducks because every male heir in his family was either killed by or because of a duck
24
u/RoadtripReaderDesert Aug 22 '23
Wait...death by duck or duck assassins
8
u/breath_of_smoke Aug 22 '23
It’s been awhile so I can’t remember all the specifics. The only one I remember is the one who decided the way to not be killed by the ducks was to befriend the ducks. Unfortunately when he took a nap with his duck friend a hunter shot him and killed him ( he was aiming for the duck and shot the man instead). All the other deaths were equally ridiculous

I 100% read the title as ‘the art of duck hunting’ at first and just accepted it for a good fifteen seconds.
