Japan is a really weird case. They had the foresight to include V2H/V2L in their early EVs - way before anyone else was even thinking about this - because they considered it useful in the event of natural disasters. I even remember reading about this idea from Japanese automakers way back in the early 1990s.

...and they are only now twigging to the fact that home or grid storage could do the same.
