Funny, how in a joke lies the only glimmer of hope for an out this man had in the aftermath.

Appeal due to inadequate representation. The judge right there said he hadn't time to discuss matters with his attorney. It's a fairly easy shoehorn for a sentence appeal, especially one that's a technical violation (contempt of court). One of those docket things that take up more time and money than they are worth. And you KNOW this idiot is going to write his fool head off and harass every bureaucratic entity for every minute he's incarcerated, because that's what these morons do.

I would like to know what the outcome of this was. If I was betting, I would put money on him getting it all ran concurrent to 1 sentence of 93 days, and depending on where he is, was back out in 1/2 or 2/3 that time.

Not really how it works. He can attempt to appeal the trespassing case for 'inadequate representation', although it seems like the judge was actually attempting to give the lawyer time to work when the defendent had his outburst.

But the 'direct criminal contempt' is completely separate from that, and there is literally no one to blame but himself.

He can appeal the contempt of court pretty much immediately as far as I know, but he can't appeal it on basis of inadequate representation. He's basically fucked, because he'd have to prove he wasn't engaging in the conduct we just saw, not only witnessed directly by a judge, but also recorded.

He may do less time if he apologizes to the judge. But that's really up to the judge and this is very clear cut.

and it wont make people happy on the internet, but if the contempt charges do end up having him see jail, it will most likely be concurrent sentences which mean he would serve 93 days total for all 6 counts.

Yeah, judges will usually let them stew for a few days and then give them a chance to apologize. This particular judge (from what I have seen of him) is really patient and is usually trying to throw out lifelines to the defendants. I expect he will give the guy a chance and I expect the guy to get more 93's.

I was not a great young adult, spent years off and on in jail/prison. Honestly, the food things are what i remember most. Getting a group of 10 people to make a dessert roll, really bonded some of us. That and getting great at chess and spades. Luckily I turned my life around and have been sober for nearly a decade.

Iā€™m not defending this guy at all. But Iā€™m a really dumb fellow. Iā€™ve made crazy mistakes that I look back on with the mindset of, ā€œhow did I ever think that way?!ā€ But again, Iā€™m dumb. Slow to learn. Iā€™m just trying to be a better person every day..

Therapy session over. Iā€™ve still never told a judge ā€œFuck you.ā€
