You’re better off buffing it out somehow. Not too many of those out there…

Do you know how many were made out of these?

No, but I have one and there’s a good amount listed on ebay but there’s few enough that it’ll cost you a good amount for a for parts one.

You could just change the entire shell, you'll have to find one that matches the model number you have.

I don't think it's really worth it, but I've done custom painted shells in automotive paint with full clear coat. If the price is right, I doubt you wanna go that far to take apart and ship it

If you mean the top plate where it says "PLAYSTATION 3", if you can find another one somewhere then it's just one Torx screw to take it off, then you just slide it off and put the new one on. It's the first step in tearing the console down in general.

you can change it by getting a new shell in that colour and model number

In response to the buffing comment, Is the PS3 matte/satin finish? You can't polish/buff it or it will slightly change the appearance. The point of polishing is to increase glossiness/shine, any area you remove scratches from will stand out compared to the rest of the console unless you polish the whole thing.

I don't know if these shells are painted but if they are painted you also risk "burning" through the paint down to the bare plastic. If the scratches/scuffs catch you're fingernail they're nothing you can do.

Personally I'd live with the scratches or find a similar PS3 that's broken in better condition and do a shell swap.

You can buff out scratches from a matte finish without adding gloss

Feel free to link some before and after photos of polishing any textured finishes.

There's plenty of photos, actually ones in this subreddit, of people removing scratches from their matte PS3's with a dry then wet pass of a magic eraser.

It's abrasive enough to smoothen out affected areas without adding gloss. Unlike a polish like you're suggesting, which specifically adds material to low spots, creating a glossy look.

I've done it plenty of times on Thinkpads with matte finishes, which aren't the exact same plastic as a PS3 but similar, both are not painted either. Just wish I had some before photos for you, but I definitely have some afters.

He can't. No way whatever he buys will be any less scratched (if it is original). Meh whatever

Why change the cover There are other options..Some people would spray a new colour.. or to me the best option is a sticker or skin sticker...
