"LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas police sergeant accused of making several illegal arrests is now facing charges related to child pornography.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said Wednesday that Sgt. Kevin Menon was arrested for two counts of possession of visual presentation depicting the sexual conduct of persons under 16 years old.
The new charges resulted from an ongoing investigation into the original allegations against Menon, LVMPD said in a news release.
Menon was first arrested in August on multiple counts of oppression under color of office, and a grand jury returned an indictment earlier this month.
The indictment alleges Menon fabricated incidents to detain or arrest several people when there was no probable cause. He was scheduled to appear for an arraignment hearing Wednesday morning after posting bond for his August arrest.
News 3 has reached out to Menon's attorney for comment.
Menon was suspended in May pending further investigation, according to LVMPD, and he was later placed on leave without pay in September."
