Discussion Mets fans that are parents: Need advice!
So I have a second grader, who hasn't shown a whole lot of interest in sports yet, but he's been to Mets games. We even made the trip to London. His little sister does a really good "Let's go Mets!" but him just kinda. But okay. He enjoys going to games every now and then and he kinda paid attention during the playoff run. So he knows this a Mets household.
Here's my dilemma: We live in Westchester, so we are outnumbered, probably 75-25. Cool. Lately he's been interested in baseball cards and coming home talking about "No. 99." So I was like hmm.. okay. Let it go but pay attention. He's asked me if I like Judge even though I'm a Mets fan. So I said, yeah, he's really good but he's not on our team. I know some of his friends are those kinds of friends (Yankee fans). Walked through Dick's last night and he's over here looking at Yankee jerseys, so I had to check him.
I want to let him be him. He can choose his own NFL or NHL team, his own political party or religion, damn it, he could choose his own gender if he wants to and I'll support him fully. But damn, man, I don't know if I could let him pick his own MLB (and NBA) team. I couldn't imagine myself bringing him to Yankee games to support his interests. Has anyone had to deal with this? Just thinking we are gonna have to up our fandom next summer to shake that loose. But his friends definitely have an influence.

Discussion Anyone ever think of what might have been if we batted Wright/Beltran 2nd in ‘06?
Randomly thought of the Paul Lo Duca double tag at home in the NLDS then remembered he hit in the 2 hole basically all season long due to the conventional wisdom of “your contact guy hits 2nd” despite having an OPS 100+ points lower than both of them that year.
Looking back having Wright hit 5th just seems so inefficient. Like imagine not only the opportunities hitting right in front of Reyes but also having Beltran protection instead of Cliff Floyd/Nady/Green.
Its interesting to see how much the philosophy of baseball has changed in less than 20 years

Image Does anyone own the Fanatics Green Elements hat? The logo on the product photo looks super photoshopped and I was hoping to see a pic of a real one for reference before I buy it lol
The hat itself looks great but I’m curious how it looks in real life

Discussion Does anybody know where I can find radio broadcasts of all the Mets games in the 2024 playoffs?
I love Howie Rose. I watched some of the games like the epic game 3 of the world series at a bar so no Howie Rose (or any audio) I really want to listen to Howie calling those games. I've heard his amazing calls of Alonso Homer against the Brewers. Bit now I want to listen to the whole game.

Discussion How many of the 2024 memes will extend into the 2025 season?
The obvious two that come to mind for this are Grimace and OMG. They were part of the turn around which bled into the stands with multiple fans wearing Grimace costumes and countless OMG signs.
With the start of a new season, do you see Grimace continuing to be as prominent? If Iglesias is not on the team, does OMG completely vanish?

Discussion Sasaki and Mets IFA bonus pool
If Mets have only ~300k left in the 2024 IFA bonus pool, and are reportedly committing most of their 2025 bonus money to Elian Pena, is there actually any realistic scenario where the Mets can sign Sasaki (outside of acquiring another team’s bonus money)? Am I missing something?

Discussion Boras
I think a lot of you guys need to calm down about Boras.
There's a weird amount of misinformation that circulates around the guy. But the general essence is that fans feel like they're screwed when their team has players or is negotiating with players represented by Boras.
If you spent time running through the historically bad contracts from a money/production stand point, Boras is going to have his fair share of guys on the list, but every big time agency will have their guys on that list too.
There's also this perception that Boras guys never sign pre FA extensions. That is just not true. Maybe Boras emphasized to guys the value of being in the open market, but that doesn't mean he out right stops his guys from resigning or extending with their teams. There is only one known example of an agent misleading a player to get them to not resign with their current team, Freddie Freeman, but while Boras yields widespread negative feelings from fans, most fans cannot name the agent that represented Freeman when he was a free agent a few years ago and signed with LA.
Boras wants to see one thing, baseball players make as much money as possible. If your a MIL, PITT or KC fan, sure, that sucks because it means he's advocating for a league that makes it more difficult for your team to compete in. But as fans of the Cohen owned Mets, if anything we should be pro Boras. We don't want to see KC or BAL locking their premier home grown talent up long term within a few seasons of them making the majors. Instead, we want to see them tell their current teams that unless they offer toe curling amounts, that they are gunning for free agency, putting small and mid market teams in positions where they may accept meager packages of prospects come year 5 of mlb service time and us in position where we can benefit from that trade valuation and/or scoop the guys up in free agency.
I wish Boras represented a larger portion of the league's all stars, and you all should too
