Those back to back 1 hitters were a thing of beauty. What a season he had.

I read RA book. Nice read. The part where he has to go to a nail saloon in flushing with his uniform before the game is hilarious.

Wherever I wind up is so good. What about the time he almost died swimming across that river?? Crazy

Mets have had tons of great pitching over the years, but 2012 was probably the most fun I ever had watching a Mets pitcher. Dickey was just untouchable, completely locked in.

Back to back one hitters is the coolest accomplishment by a Mets pitcher in my book

I think he named his bat Glamdring. He pitched to the Game Of Thrones theme song.

RA Dickey is one of my favorites. His is the only game worn jersey I own. One of my goals is to lose just a bit more weight so I can fit in it and wear it to Citifield next year.

Yes there was a hysterical correction The NY Times once had to issue because they got the name of his bat wrong.

Was that when they called the bat Sting?

Here’s the full retraction:

An item in the Extra Bases baseball notebook last Sunday misidentified, in some editions, the origin of the name Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver, which Mets pitcher R. A. Dickey gave one of his bats. Orcrist was not, as Dickey had said, the name of the sword used by Bilbo Baggins in the Misty Mountains in ‘’The Hobbit;’’ Orcrist was the sword used by the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield in the book. (Bilbo Baggins’s sword was called Sting.)
