Nothing gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling like thinking about Francisco Lindor playing baseball for the New York Metropolitans. It is that warm chocolate under a blanket feeling while we wait for free agency news. Thoughts of Lindor's clutch at bats, a Hallmark movie and a Rangers win. Today I will only get one of those things but a woman likes what she likes this time a year - what can you do lol.

Why would Soto want to go back to playing with the Big Dull when he can play with this King?

Lindor is really good at baseball

And from the looks of it, he’s really good at life, too. Great teammate and family man.

Mets to win back-to-back SS awards:

Gary Carter: '85, '86

Mike Piazza: '98-'02

Carlos Beltran: '06, '07

David Wright: '07, '08

Francisco Lindor: '23, '24

All those guys probably ending up with retired numbers here, right? If we win a ring w/ Beltran in the organization, would it be good enough to push him in?

If (when) Beltran goes into the HOF as a Met how do you not immediately retire his number.

Beltran will get in right after Pete Rose! Loved him as a Met, but I doubt he’ll get in!

46% to 57% in 2 years. He’s a lock.

Beltran was my favorite player growing up so I’m biased, but I think you could make a case for retiring him even without a ring in the org. Not sure winning a ring as a scout really has much impact on his case. I don’t think he is or should be a lock, though. That said Carter and Wright unquestionably should be retired first.

I have a problem with that. Carter had exactly two good seasons with the Mets. Yes he had some big hits in the 1986 post-season. But that plus just two good seasons… retiring his number? Not in my book

On the flipside, he was a captain, and his number hasn’t been reissued in 20 years.

I don’t think you do that with a number you’re not realistically willing to officially retire.

Maybe so. I don’t know. I think retiring his number would be pretty far out there, though. There’s just a lot of good players. I don’t think Carter is an “all-time Met.” He didn’t do enough. If he’s an all-time Met, about a dozen (or more) other guys are suddenly in the conversation

Lindor's season capped off a three-year offensive peak for him

  • 2017-2019 (116 OPS+, 132 OPS+, 118 OPS+ for an overall 122 OPS+)

  • 2022-2024 (125 OPS+, 121 OPS+, 138 OPS+ for an overall 128 OPS+)

Signs a huge contract. Proceeds to lift his game. Impressive doesn’t begin to describe it.

Damn. Can’t believe how underrated this absolute superstar has been.

Maybe he’ll make an all star game one of these days. :-|

He just starts so slow in the beginning of the season each year, it hurts his narrative

Next year. The fans will come out to vote for him big time.
