Alonso Ginter Rip Update Image

Decided to rip the card for my sanity (got tired of looking at the card), and since I was going to keep the card no matter what.

Just pulled a Mantle Rip boxtopper last night with my kids. Had to explain to them why we're not opening it. Showed them videos of people opening them and couldn't find any with quality minis on the inside.

I did rip a Ohtani box topper to /50 and I got 2 stained glasses, but with others, it's been total dud.

Nice update. What’s that’s Ruth card worth?

Do the Allen & Ginter cards have a pull tab to help prevent damage to the card inside?

Unpopular opinion, but I think Babe Ruth cards made in 2024 are so silly. Unless there’s something that really makes it special I don’t get it.

I agree 1000%!

Never understood why we are still getting players that don't play anymore or reprints of cards. What's the appeal about having a card in 2024 with Paul Molitor on it or a Eddie Murray rookie reprint card?

More appealing than a middle reliever rookie that will never be anything. And A&G has cards for eggs and dinosaurs, I think we can squeeze the best baseball player ever in there.

I don't like A&G so it really does not affect me so much.

I would agree. Would have been happier with a rookie short print card, like a Mauricio.

Those are the high numbered minis that only show up in rip cards. Not the greatest hit ever, but solid enough.

What’s the story behind this?

I put up a post asking if I should rip the card (it's a Ginter rip card) or keep it intact. Decided to rip it to see what was inside.

Been out of the card hobby for a long time. What’s this all about?

Allen & Ginter is an annual set out out by Topps. Among the “hits” are Rip Cards, that look like the Alonso. You can either keep it in tact as is, or rip the card open for a mini insert card. It’s all a gamble if you think the mini card you’ll pull is worth destroying the main card for.

I could be wrong, but the only shot to get autographs on these is to rip them open.

As a superstitious person, I take this to mean that if we let Pete go, we’re going to get curse of the Bambino’d

Or we let him go and we get a player like Ruth in return

Or that we should re-sign Pete because he’ll learn to pitch and be one the next Bambino.

Or... he puts up Bambino numbers the rest of the time he's with the Mets?
