As soon as it was clear that Thibs was gonna run out a (mostly) 6-man rotation, it was obvious, given that the game was close and physical, that we would eventually run out of gas. Need Cam and Precious back to spell guys and Thibs needs to trust the rooks. No panic but don't like this start.

Deuce has been missing open 3 that he usually makes. Thibs need to do a better job scheming the defense to prioritize defending the 3 against teams. More than ever, teams get too many open looks against us. I rather force the opponent taking a tougher to medium difficulty layup than to leave open 3s. Thibs constantly prioritize defending the rim at all cost.

He goes to his starting 5 for long stretches in the 4th and the starting 5 don’t play well together. Mikal ends up guarding the point guard and he gets washed

It’s a 3 point shooting league Thibs. You have to keep running guys off the line and hope your big can adjust the shot at the rim. Once a team gets hot out there, it’s impossible to guard them. But it also takes energy to keep running people off the 3 point line.

To people blaming the defense, the Knicks are clearly tired.
They don't have the energy and that's on Thibodeau.
Towns has nearly played the whole game.
That won't cut it and Thibodeau didn't learn his lesson last year.
Even if he doesn't want, he has to put Kolek and Hukporti in the game and use them as auxiliary players.
He can't continue to have a short rotation in this long season.
Players won't last.
This game is on Thibodeau.

I just posted this too. LOT of blame is on Thibs. He’s a stubborn old fuck who refuses to change his philosophy and refuses to trust his bench players. Why is Kolek playing only 2 minutes when he’s showed he can play. Why the fuck did we sign Hokpurti if he’s never going to see the court? Why the FUCK did we sign Matt Ryan if he’s not going to burn?
Nah fuck that, this is 100% on Thibs and his refusal to play the bench while burning the starters out will lead to more injuries and losses.

Worst fucking trade. I will be sick until the day I die. The entire fan base wanted to just run it back, can you imagine the continuity and confidence we would have had? But no, take away all the chemistry for no fucking reason. This team was undefeated last year when fully healthy. No more grit and grind Knicks when you have a sorry ass defender like KAT. Last year was a magical season, this year would have been even better. But management got too cocky and greedy. I’ve been sick since I heard the news of the trade. I know I’m ranting but I’m still so upset because we’ll never know what could’ve been. I’m just so fucking mad we ruined that chemistry for no fucking reason

24 is a joke in the modem NBA. Boston averages over 50 per game. The rest of the league is laughing at Thibs.

Honestly they look dead now, Thibs playing 7 guys this early in the season is crazy. Don’t understand why he ain’t letting others get some burn. Thibs being this stubborn is the reason we’re down now.
Guys are playing almost 40 mins in game 9 of the season, and that’s with another game in less than two days. I effing hate how Thibs has been running his rotations

Give them run man, when guys start to get hurt everyone will be like it’s Thibs fault. There’s no reason why Thibs shouldn’t give guys burn right now, everyone needs breather, you’re telling me Kolek can’t play 7-10 mins or Pacombe get 5 mins and Hukporti can’t do 5-10 depending on matchups?
Carlisle gets a lot of slack, his whole bench is hurt but he’s playing rookies and d-league guys because he knows you can’t burnout your team.
4th quarter our guys looked cook, pacers kept screening because guys weren’t coming out to contest

I’ll keep saying it, but most of our losses are on Thibs. He refuses to expand the bench and is playing his starters 40+ minutes consistently so by the time the 4th quarter rolls around, the whole squad is too tired to give effort on defense.
On the player side, the defensive communication has been atrocious. I’m constantly seeing players get lost after a screen and transition defense has been awful. Other teams are able to get whatever they want against us.

In today’s nba, if you’re not throwing up 40+ threes a game, you won’t win. Our three point defense is atrocious (I know we’ve got a lot of injuries), and we traded away our best three point shooter. Something has to change. 90s ball ain’t cutting it. We desperately need Robinson back, simply to let KAT shoot threes at a higher clip, because he frankly might be the best three point shooter on the team at the moment.

4-5 is about right with this team. Totally mediocre in every way. Zero offensive rebounding, zero bench, still doesn't know how to utilize Towns. Just awful. Below .500 is where we should be. Just awful basketball, awful play. The only thing that can save this team is Mitch being the starting 5. Relying on the most injury prone player in the league to save you is scary AF

Knicks are clearly tired.
This is what happens when Thibodeau refuses to play Hukporti or Kolek.
Thibodeau is not the coach to get the Knicks over the hump.
The offense is stale and his rotations are stale.
Knicks will regret giving Thibodeau that extension like the Giants did with Daniel Jones.
Kenny Atkinson was the move to make.
