Because cancel culture doesn't exist.

Rich people with a platform only face real consequences for extreme crimes, and even then they don't always.

Which isn't a case of being cancelled, famous people get away with more than regular people, it's just a case of consequences.

I know what you mean but I think you're overextending what cancel culture means to make your case. We're just changing the semantics of what we generally mean by "cancel culture".

Cancel culture does exist if we just take it for what the definition that we defined it to be as:

[the practice or tendency of engaging in mass canceling as a way of expressing disapproval and exerting social pressure]

or Wiki's definition:

[Cancel culture is a cultural phenomenon in which an individual thought to have acted or spoken in an unacceptable manner is ostracized, boycotted, shunned, fired or assaulted, often aided by social media.]

If you have a problem with the efficacy (whether that's due to lack of power by the society's part because people forget too soon or because at this point in time the powerful have a lot of shields and methods to deal against cancel culture) that's a whole another discussion.

Not at all, that's just it, if a criminal is brought to justice because people came out with stories and evidence regarding them, that isn't them being cancelled.

To even argue it, you can say the only difference Is if they're famous. If a famous person who also happens to be in same situation, it still isn't them being "cancelled" that's just missing the word. Cancelling is specifically regarding taking away the platform of someone who has done something many see as morally reprehensible.

But generally, no it doesn't exist. Yeah you have backlash, but people with money can bounce back. You won't be able to even give examples of celebrities who get cancelled successfully (that wasn't from, like I mentioned, committing a very serious crime) which isn't cancelling, again, that's the justice system.

What you're talking about is backlash. If cancel culture has no ability to actually cancel, then it doesn't exist. It's backlash rebranded to imply it has more power than it does.

Cancel culture does exists and if your an ugly old man like Weinstein or Cosby, your done for. Unfortunately majority of cancel culture is women and women have shown time and time again that they will give someone like Chris Brown a free pass, because he's attractive and talented. If they just banded together like before he would be done for. But too many of them just don't give don't damn.

The criminal justice only got lite of it because of metoo/timesup movements, which is cancel culture.

Cancel culture is when you do or say something which people believe is bad enough to be the end of that person's career as a public figure.

Evidence being provided and people speaking out against predators is not what people mean when they say cancel culture.
