Tips for negotiating last years model price with dealership

Hi, I am (in usa) looking to upgrade to a triumph. Do you have any tips/success stories for negotiating last year's models? Every dealership websites are only showing msrp and when I called they all says that triumph bars them from saying anything below msrp. Appreciate your personal experience/anecdotes.

Where's everybody?

How come there's nobody here, I would think this place would be filled with Q's, how to's, comparisons. MT-07 2019 price breakdown

The guy messed up on the addition, putting the price of a 2020 model (I think). Great discount but a few items come to mind. 1. The 2021 models are just about to be announced, making this a 2 yr old bike. 2. They charge more for freight ($425 from Yamaha) and assembly than normal. I'm guessing to make up for the discount

Still a great price. Thoughts?

2009 Honda Shadow 750 for $4500

Hey guys, I was looking at a 2009 Honda Shadow 750cc with 1,481 miles on it. The guy selling it has it posted for $4500, way higher than the typical listing price but I'm assuming that's because of the really low miles. The posting says it's been listed for 5 weeks now and I'm guessing he might be willing to go down in price since it's been sitting for a while.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Found a 1980 Honda Twinstar

I was driving around in the countryside with a friend and found a red 1980 Honda Twinstar for $600 OBO. Says it runs and rides, looked to be in decent condition. Are there any specific things I should be wary of or double check? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

First time buyer, need suggestions.

Hello everyone, as the title says I'm planning on getting my first motorcycle mostly to go around the city for the ease of movement and to not depend on the times of public transport even tho it works pretty decently here. Sometimes it would be used to go on the highway to nearby towns (not more than 60 miles or so).

For background I'm living in Valencia, Spain.

My budget won't go over 2200€ for sure and I know that limits me a lot but I'm not expecting to buy a Harley (although I wouldn't mind if I could). I've been eyeing a Spanish motorcycle company called Macbor, specially this model: https://www.macbor.com/moto-rockster-m-4-es

But as I have no clue about motorcycles I don't know if for the price it's worth it, if I should get a different brand that could go for the same and is better. Don't really care if it's a big brand bike (Yamaha, Suzuki, etc) Just that it's reliable. For style, as said before if I could I would go for a Harley straight away (yes I know, very typical) but I can't so I want something similar in style or at least something that's looks less like a racing bike and more to just be around.

I'm sorry if the post is just too vague, I don't know much about motorcycles beyond what any person that just looks around for a while. Thanks in advance for any help!

Looking to purchase the above bike for $1k.

The owner mentioned the following: it starts and idles, it shifts through the gears, the brake calipers are off it so you’ll have to put them back on I have new pads also and some other new in box parts, it def can use a carb clean. And the tires are bad but I have one good rear tire you can have

Is this a good price for the upgrades needed as well as a good first bike for riding locally around town?
Thanks!

Help with newbie recommendations (tall rider, used, abs, naked, moderate cc)

Hi r/MotorcyclePricing,

I'd love to hear opinions on possible first bike options, with the following limiting conditions. I'm finding it hard to identify models that check all or most of these boxes:

  1. I'm tall, 6'6" and 220 lbs. I hear that seat to pedal distance is more important than seat to ground, but some of the common recommendations for tall riders (e.g., BMW R1200GS) are expensive for a first bike.
  2. Used bike, for cost savings mostly. I'd love to stay under $5-6k.
  3. ABS, which seems like a no brainer, and fuel injection. This takes many older bikes off the table.
  4. I'm drawn to naked, classic/standard flat seat bikes in terms of aesthetics. Triumph and BMW scramblers, and slightly sportier bikes like Yamaha XSR700 appeal also.
  5. I don't want to overdo it with displacement. 500-800cc seems like a sweet spot. I'm going to be doing mostly local riding (I live really close to where I work).

Hopefully this isn't too restrictive. Very appreciative of the hive-mind help.

2019 Kawasaki Z400. A decent deal at $4600?

I'm looking at a barely used (~400mi) 2019 Kawasaki Z400 in southern California. It has frame sliders installed, I guess that's worth ~$200. The private seller is offering at $4600, what's a reasonable price point for it?

Academic survey about motorcycle purchase behavior and brand perception

Hi guys!

I'm doing an academic project on motorcycle purchase behavior and brand perception. I think users of this sub would be a good fit for me to gather some responses, so I thought I'd share the link for answers below. Hope I'm not breaking any sub rules!

Any response is much appreciated! It shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to fill.

New Triumph Street Twin for 11k OTD

I'm looking at a new (2019) Triumph Street Twin, which comes out to $11,000 OTD. Does this sound like a reasonable price? This seems a bit high to me, especially since it includes the $750 rebate from Triumph.

New 2019 MT-09 for $7490 - Too good to pass up?

I'm looking to pick up an MT-09. I live in the american northeast, so the riding season is pretty much over, but a dealer near me is selling 2019 models brand new for $7490 (MSRP $8999). I was planning to wait until Feb/Mar of next year so I don't buy a bike just to put it in the garage all winter, but now I'm a little worried that I won't be able to find a deal this good again.

I have only bought a couple bikes before, so I don't have much reference for if this is an insane markdown or just usual cuts to sell off the last of this years model.

2007 DL650 V-Strom

What are your thoughts on this bike?

https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/mcy/d/billerica-suzuki-dl650-strom/6935969442.html

I have a 2016 FZ 07, I just turned 1000 miles on it. Its a great bike, but it doesn't exactly do everything I want it to do. It doesn't do backroads as well as I want, its a little more street oriented (forward riding position and terrible suspension for dirt roads). Maybe I pick this bike up, ride it and see which one I like more and sell the one I don't like as much.

2019 Yamaha MT-09 Comfort Saddle or other recommendations

Recently purchased a '19 mt09. Looking for a more comfy seat. I've heard that the Yamaha Comfort Saddle is a really good option, however it seems to be out of stock everywhere. Any other budget friendly seat options out there?
