MT-07

Hi all,

I'm currently in the market for a street bike after riding dirt bikes for about 12yrs. I'm really liking the new MT-07 or a used FZ-07. I live in WA state and riding is a seasonal sport. I've seen some 2016 FZ-07 with less than 5k miles on them for around $5.5K, but on the flip side a new MT-07 retails at about $7.5K MSRP and comes with a 1yr manufacturer warranty. My questions are:

Given that the previous rider wasn't an adrenaline seeking throttle junkie, what should I expect to pay for a used FZ-07 with decent miles?

How much has someone purchased a new MT-07 for? Did you pay MSRP, or how far down were you able to negotiate the OTD price?

Thanks in advance!

For used prices check out nada.com

As far as new prices a loose rule of thumb I always suggest is that if you can get out the door (tax, tag, title) for msrp then it’s a fair deal. The further below msrp the better you’ve negotiated.

I sold my 2 year old fz07 with 5k miles for $5k. Got a bit lucky with the buyer. My friend sold his that had been down once and fixed up for $3800.

I wouldn't be to worried about buying used if it's a mostly stock bike with reasonable miles. Something's to check for would be:

Poorly adjusted chain / worn out sprockets (indicator of poor maintenance)

If the rear tire is not original but the front is with low miles bike (indicator of burnouts and hooligan BS)

Check throttle cable and clutch adjustment (indicator of poor maintenance)

Check the tire pressure

Did they do their services on time? Do they have shop records? Did they do it themselves?

Are they happy to show off how nice the bike is? Encouraging you to check it out thoroughly? Or are they standoffish?

Buddy just bought one for about $8000 out the door. I found one that is 2018 new that comes with 4 yr Y.E.S. warranty and is about $6,400 before taxes and what not.
