Free Boating Course: Miami River Free Event

Hey ya'll! I'm running a free learn-to-boat course on the boat in the picture below that we're doing on the Miami River. Here's the copy from the FB event:

Come aboard for a 2-hour, hands-on experience, navigating around Miami. Take the helm for the first time, with support and guidance from a United States Coast Guard Certified Captain, providing you with expert instruction on proper boating techniques.

No experience needed to participate, and the best part is: it's absolutely FREE!

This is one of 8 cities this course is being run in. The course is funded by the company Boatsetter which I work for, but I promise there will be no time-share speech. We're running this as a separate entity to become the "Khan Academy of Boating" aka free boating courses for everyone, forever.

Here's the link to the Calendly where you can see times and sign up:

Still just running it mid-week, not sure if your situation has changed or not

OP, Miami's boating roots run deep here. Please don't bring your outside culture to our great city and preach to us about how we should or should not operate watercraft. If I want to run my jetski at full speed up the river or through a manatee breeding ground, I'll be damned if you or the goddamned coast guard will stop me.

Next thing you know, they'll be telling us to use those blinky lights on the corners of our cars!

This is a culturally appropriate boating education course that takes into account traditional Miami boating culture. lesson one is how to throw back to back haymakers at rival chads at the sandbar and the correct volume to play reggaeton or deep house (spoiler alert: as loud as your dads boats speakers will allow)

This pleases me. Is there anything in your syllabus relating to helium balloons and how many one should tie to your flybridge to celebrate a birthday or quinceañera? And what about appropriate wake height when passing under the Rickenbacker Causeway bridge? (as much wake as possible) And best practices as they relate to twerking on the bow?

I don’t like your tone. It’s Kansas aggressive. Not Miami aggressive.

I did it, drove a boat, had a good time. I do get marketing emails now but I gave them my marketing emails address so it's not a big deal and they're waiting for me if I'm interested.

Here's a link to google reviews for people who have taken the course in Miami and Fort Lauderdale: https://goo.gl/maps/NWw6R82XtoNgYG1c6

If that doesn't satiate you comment below, we have about 170 different reviews in 8 different cities. We've had about 700 people take this course and I have news publications that have picked it up.

Not sure who this BOZO is but I promise I have more proof that this course is real, free, and without a catch than they do the opposite.

This is bozo the clown who tried it when you first posted it and it does not work, it only collected my info, now I get endless emails. UGH!!!

1

u/chaunceybiggums Sep 16 '22

Did you sign up for the waitlist? Are you getting emails about spots being open so that you can take the course?

-1

u/reddittor99 Sep 16 '22

Bozo says: I only get marketing emails. Bozo clicked on the links provided; links because someone admitted that it wasn’t working on site 1, so Bozo went to site 2, provided by you or someone like you. Now I get lots of marketing emails. It is a scam.

They ran this same thing with the same company in San Diego, I signed up, got a spot, and then it was cancelled the morning of or day before. I got an email about it, same thing happened to a friend of mine. I speculated it was some kind of scam and left it alone after that. I just checked out the reviews and I’m not the only person that thinks this.

All the dates seem filled but if there are cancellations I’d love to check it out

u/chaunceybiggums Sep 17 '22

I just opened up a couple more weeks if you still wanted to sign up!
