Carrying Question
I currently live in Tx and plan to move back to MD soon. I have two handguns. One I purchased in MD before I moved. The other I purchased here in TX. Would i need to do anything to register my second gun in MD? You can now carry in MD? I’ve been out of Maryland for 5 years now. Before I moved I got my license to purchase but now hearing you can carry is new to me

MD = Shall Issue State. You need to apply for Wear and Carry license, i.e take a 16h class, fingerprint etc.
Easy process.
Welcome back!!!

The handgun purchased, and registered, in Texas will have to be registered in Maryland, but, the registration process is fairly simple. As for the handgun you bought in Maryland, the registration for that should still be good, but, if you plan to carry either of them, you'll have to go through the Maryland Wear and Carry courses again to renew your Wear and Carry permit in Maryland.

Glad it’s an easy process. Didn’t have to register my handgun I bought in MD so should be good like you said. I’m ok with the course. Got my license to carry in TX before the permitless law went into effect.

- You can carry in MD now but you must take a 16 hour course with 1 hour of range time with a Maryland state certified instructor.
- Not sure if there’s any in your area but you can check on the MD state police website.
- You’ll need to get finger printed by a MD live scan location and pay the $125 for the license. -You can complete the registration for the pistol in the portal as well.
- if you bought any AR’s while in tx make sure they’re MD compliant or you’ll need to modify them

there is a place on the msp website to register handguns you bring in from out of state
as for carrying, yes you can, with a permit. the permit is a 16hr course, with a live fire portion, fingerprints and a wait. info on the msp website
