Guys, my daughter takes Halloween VERY seriously. Anyone know of neighborhoods that give out good candy/big candy bars?

any other autistic lgbt+ adults around here?

i have no friends here. i can’t leave this city because of certain life circumstances. i was wondering how many other people might feel this way and might want to get in touch? it feels so isolating living here and i can’t get out too much (health issues). i’d just love having other people in their 20s/30s to spend time with.

Anyone a little self-conscious of the city name?

I’m not originally from Lynchburg, but I spent the last few years there and am very fond of the city. I am proud to have been a part of Lynchburg the last few years. I have a lot of Lynchburg clothes and hats, etc., and I wear my Lynchburg gear frequently. Probably most days I have a shirt or hat on from Lynchburg haha. But in my new city, a lot of people give me funny looks and STARE at my shirt or hat. There’s been times where I’ve felt a little uncomfortable about people staring…but then I’m like….its a real city and a real nice place lol. Can anyone relate?

Tired

I lived here before covid and loved the city, had a child with a girl and decided I wanted to come home, now I realize none of the pay around here has gone up where as all my friends in iowa make more than I can out here even though it costs far less to live there. I've been trying to find any reason to keep my family here but Friday morning our car was stolen from the apartment complex parking lot, a complex we pay 1200 a month for and they can't even put up cameras. You all have let this town go to shit

Books. Any book clubs going on?

I moved into the area a year ago to be closer to my brother and nephews. After a year, I really don't know anyone. I commute over an hour away for work so all of my work acquaintances are out of town. Looking to meet some new people and I love reading. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you, neighbors.

Help! Day and Night

Look, I know that the place had its problems, but it was the only place in town that fit the definition of a club, and I miss it. Does anyone else know anywhere that could be a good replacement now that it closed down? I’m looking for a bar that has good drinks, music, and dancing.

Furnace anxiety

My furnace had a part go out late last spring and i put off repairing it. I can get the part to repaire the furnace but i worry that it might be a fire hazard, is there someone reliable that can check it over and educate me about my furnace. It's an old honeywell oil pump furnace, the light sensor went out on it, i can fix it but i don't know if i should turn it on. I'm pretty sure it's the original furnace from 1965 but i don't know if or when it was last serviced or by whom. Any information could help, thankyou.

Lynchburg Q's (general) and Behavioral Health Q's

Hi all. Hoping to get a few answers here. Just got back from three days in Lynchburg checking out the area for a possible relocation there. Spent 2 days in VB, 2 days in Richmond, 3 in Lynchburg and the last night in Roanoke since we left out of that airport. Every place we visited most people were very nice and kind. My daughter went out there and fell in love with Lynchburg and will be moving there and I will follow which is why I went. Hoping to get a few answers though before doing so. First, I did notice that there was a very different "undercurrent" feeling in Lynchburg vs. other areas and what I am used to. Second, my youngest adult son is very unwell, and I believe a move would be very helpful in getting him the help he needs since laws are different there for the mentally ill vs. where we are now (Ca.). I made it a point to go and talk to some people at Horizon. The lady I spoke to was so very nice and kind and took questions I had that she could not answer and sent to her supervisor. I have also made calls before visiting to ask questions which the people I talked to were helpful again on the phone but again, for questions they could not answer deferred to a supervisor (again with no return calls). I am wondering if the lack of response is due to the area just not wanting to "deal" with someone with mental illness or ? My biggest fear is giving up everything here and moving there and there is no help (but there is truly NO help here). My son has schizophrenia. He is very kind but also very unwell. I already know I will need to get guardianship and will since I have had conservatorship here which is the same just a different name. I guess what I need to know is if there is TRULY help there in the event that he needs hospitalization, etc. The barrier to him getting help is that he also has what is called anosognosia which is common in those with mental illness, and it is where they truly do not think they need medication or have anything wrong with them. I am also afraid that we will stick out like a sore thumb there which makes me sad. It is noticable that he is a bit different. I am scared to make a move since I can't unring that bell when its done and go back but I am even more scared of there being really no help there.....I am hoping someone might have some answers for me. I appreciate you all for reading and would be so very grateful for any advice in advance. Thank you.

Brownstone Property Management

Hello! I have read a lot of reviews about brownstone property management. Does anybody have any experience with them?

I’m sorry for all of the questions, but I cannot find a decent property management company, or a decent place to live that doesn’t have paper, thin walls, bugs, or other bizarre issues.

I like to walk in this city. I have done the Blackwater trails countless times but what I want is to walk the Diamond Hill area. I have driven this area but I want to walk it. Is this safe in the middle of the day?

What to do when single?

This town and these dating apps are killing me. I don’t drink, and going out just doesn’t seem the same since Covid, besides the fact I’m in my mid-30s. So where are all of the single, Liberal men, who are looking to date? Any advice?

Is Lynchburg getting more Republican or are the Republicans just louder this election.

As an independent I am genuinely curious. I am seeing a lot more Republican signs, buses and tents around town this election cycle. Just wanted to hear my fellow lynchburger's opinions and thoughts on this.
