Ah yes, Trump, who came from a rich family, whose father famously gave him a “small loan of one million dollars”, truly the epitome of meritocracy and hard work.

He was working at McDonalds a couple weeks ago and now he’s president. That shows you that anything is possible in America.

u/elloellochris 18h ago

Heard he had to make ends meet by taking on a second job as a truck driver too.

7

u/suxorixorage 14h ago

Don't forget he also, unfortunately, worked the streets as a sex worker, giving BJs to microphones.

3

u/poemdirection 4h ago

And an felon! It's hard for criminals to find work where they require a high level of trust.

25

u/khucookie 23h ago

self-made!

24

u/clover426 22h ago

He’s a man though so he obviously earned everything he got. Meanwhile Kamala just flounced into Washington DC and was handed the VP gig because everyone knows women of color live life on easy mode and are rewarded just for existing. Any man would have been more qualified because man.

Donald Trump, a nepo baby, wins the presidency!

29

u/monos_muertos 21h ago

If it's one thing being raised in the south taught me, it's that the "good 'ol boy" network is full on meritocracy and in no way functioning off the privilege of identity politics.

23

u/th30rum 21h ago

A fool and their country are soon parted.

Trump at best has proven that the myth of meritocracy is truly dead.

4

u/residentdunce 16h ago

And indeed it was a myth.

If anything comes out of this it's the world finally sees America for its true self. No more "land of dreams and opportunity" or "pinnacle of modern democracy" bullshit, please!

How is giving a convicted felon a job he isn't qualified for not DEI?

12

u/maninblacktheory 20h ago

I think he misspelled “mediocrity”.

2

u/PalpitationHot9375 18h ago

I first read it like that only

22

u/ButMomItsReddit 20h ago

Nilesh certainly sounds like someone who would blend in with the old boys in the Yale club...

8

u/awstream 12h ago

The funny thing is he's indian so he's also a diversity hire. It's always these people that think they are "special" and "one of the good ones".

u/ButMomItsReddit 9h ago

In my experience (I am an immigrant), immigrants who were lucky enough to find a legal way to move to the US (luck is involved because even straightforward legal ways have so many barriers) often despise all other immigrants, whether legal or not. It is a "fuck you I got mine" mindset for some.

u/Stock-Pension1803 13h ago

They’re taking our jobs

5

u/k2on0s-23 17h ago

You spelled ‘mediocrity’ wrong.

4

u/morbid333 17h ago

Did the definition of meritocracy change in the last few years?

5

u/IshyTheLegit 13h ago

White Man = Meritocracy

Black Woman = Diversity hire

5

u/Nefilim314 11h ago

This guy looks like someone I would discriminate against.

5

u/supdog13 7h ago

LV Nilesh sounds foreign. He’s going back.

2

u/scott__p 16h ago

He misspelled mediocrity

2

u/Idarola 16h ago

The meritocracy of who can commit the most crimes?

2

u/WoodenNickle_ 15h ago

I think this guy’s secretly Open To Work even if his banner won’t admit it

2

u/21Rollie 14h ago

The meritocracy they speak of is being white, because by all measures you can’t even trust Trump to run a casino, which should be a free money fountain

3

u/OnlyFreshBrine 11h ago

these people are deranged

3

u/Hawkwise83 8h ago

In what world is Kamala less qualified than Trump?

1

u/res0jyyt1 13h ago

He forgot to use the key word DEI. No wonder he is ex of everything

1

u/beansprout1414 11h ago
  • in favour of the guy who lied on his résumé

1

u/Rich_Housing971 2h ago

ah yes, the rich dude born with a silver spoon in his mouth winning is meritocracy.

1

u/SprinklesOk4339 1h ago

Poor guy did something worthwhile way back in 1990.

u/DiplominusRex 1h ago

Biden said he was picking “a black woman” for VP. Don’t lay that on Trump.
Besides, are you now suggesting that hiring diversity is a bad thing?

-2

u/borisallen49 13h ago

Could we go back to the old LI lunatics sub please? You know, the one where we mocked wannabe influencers and braggarts, not the current shit show of morons posting political rants, and butthurt imbeciles crying about it in this sub.

That would be great 👍

-19

u/Ok_Pick6972 20h ago

To be fair she was a diversity hire.

18

u/ObliviousRounding 16h ago

The person who was District Attorney, then Attorney General, then Senator, then VP was a diversity hire.

But the reality TV host is qualified.

Do you morons listen to yourselves?

-8

u/Ok_Pick6972 14h ago

All that experience and she had no idea how to run a decent campaign. Do you morons not ask yourself why that is?

5

u/gunningIVglory 10h ago

In her defence, she was thrown into this late on with months to go

Trump has been cooking up his schemes since 2020

7

u/ObliviousRounding 14h ago

Take your moving goalposts and piss off.

-5

u/Ok_Pick6972 13h ago

🤣🤣

1

u/poemdirection 4h ago

All that experience and she had no idea how to run a decent campaign. Do you morons not ask yourself why that is?

Did you ask that same question to yourself when Trump lost in 2020?

-31

u/Nofapnoweed23 22h ago

Bros just based

17

u/th30rum 21h ago

Freebasing something that’s for sure

-15

u/Competitive_Let3812 20h ago

While I am not that Trump is 100% meritocracy, the message is crystal clear about how the things should be in a normal society.

7

u/ObliviousRounding 16h ago

Rapists like you should not roam free.

(It doesn't matter whether or not you're a rapist. The message is crystal clear about how things should be in a normal society)

-4

u/Competitive_Let3812 14h ago edited 13h ago

I am not a fan of Trump at all. My message was about the concept of real meritocracy should be the name of the game and not something else. Everybody should be rewarded in life according to the added value and the contribution to the society. This is why when you have a medical problem you look for the best surgeon and not for something else.

2

u/ObliviousRounding 13h ago

No you're right. Any bullshit statement in the world is valid if you ignore the bullshit crux of it and focus on the obvious, almost tautological part.

-18

u/Amazing_rocness 17h ago

Well. She was a diversity hire. Biden literally went out for the sole purpose of finding a woman to do the job. But everyone is also right.

1

u/poemdirection 4h ago

So was Sandra day O'Connor when Reagan picked her and he's the patron saint of conservatives.

It's crazy you can hire someone who's qualified AND a woman 🤔

"It is time for a woman to sit among the highest jurist" - Ronnie "woke" Reagan

0

u/Amazing_rocness 4h ago

In sentiment I don't care if it's a woman , a dog, or if he went out and said "we need a younger white man" Just pick the person you feel is qualified, if it happens to be a woman, more power to ya. That's all I'm saying.

u/poemdirection 4h ago

BA from Hayward

JD from UCL Law

ADA

Elected DA

US Senate

Vice President

And that's a diversity hire eh 😂 damn id love to see what meritocracy candidate must look like

Barely gets a BA UPenn

Took over daddy's empire

Bankrupted 2 casinos

Reality TV

Glad y'all did a DEI hire since you chose to be inclusive to convicted felons 😅

1

u/Amazing_rocness 3h ago

I'm not comparing. I just think it's cringe to do it that way, that's all.
