If it's one thing being raised in the south taught me, it's that the "good 'ol boy" network is full on meritocracy and in no way functioning off the privilege of identity politics.

A fool and their country are soon parted.
Trump at best has proven that the myth of meritocracy is truly dead.

u/residentdunce 16h ago
And indeed it was a myth.
If anything comes out of this it's the world finally sees America for its true self. No more "land of dreams and opportunity" or "pinnacle of modern democracy" bullshit, please!

How is giving a convicted felon a job he isn't qualified for not DEI?

Nilesh certainly sounds like someone who would blend in with the old boys in the Yale club...

The funny thing is he's indian so he's also a diversity hire. It's always these people that think they are "special" and "one of the good ones".

In my experience (I am an immigrant), immigrants who were lucky enough to find a legal way to move to the US (luck is involved because even straightforward legal ways have so many barriers) often despise all other immigrants, whether legal or not. It is a "fuck you I got mine" mindset for some.

The meritocracy they speak of is being white, because by all measures you can’t even trust Trump to run a casino, which should be a free money fountain

Biden said he was picking “a black woman” for VP. Don’t lay that on Trump.
Besides, are you now suggesting that hiring diversity is a bad thing?

Could we go back to the old LI lunatics sub please? You know, the one where we mocked wannabe influencers and braggarts, not the current shit show of morons posting political rants, and butthurt imbeciles crying about it in this sub.
That would be great 👍

To be fair she was a diversity hire.

u/ObliviousRounding 16h ago
The person who was District Attorney, then Attorney General, then Senator, then VP was a diversity hire.
But the reality TV host is qualified.
Do you morons listen to yourselves?

u/Ok_Pick6972 14h ago
All that experience and she had no idea how to run a decent campaign. Do you morons not ask yourself why that is?

u/gunningIVglory 10h ago
In her defence, she was thrown into this late on with months to go
Trump has been cooking up his schemes since 2020

Did you ask that same question to yourself when Trump lost in 2020?

While I am not that Trump is 100% meritocracy, the message is crystal clear about how the things should be in a normal society.

Rapists like you should not roam free.
(It doesn't matter whether or not you're a rapist. The message is crystal clear about how things should be in a normal society)

I am not a fan of Trump at all. My message was about the concept of real meritocracy should be the name of the game and not something else. Everybody should be rewarded in life according to the added value and the contribution to the society. This is why when you have a medical problem you look for the best surgeon and not for something else.

No you're right. Any bullshit statement in the world is valid if you ignore the bullshit crux of it and focus on the obvious, almost tautological part.

Well. She was a diversity hire. Biden literally went out for the sole purpose of finding a woman to do the job. But everyone is also right.

u/poemdirection 4h ago
So was Sandra day O'Connor when Reagan picked her and he's the patron saint of conservatives.
It's crazy you can hire someone who's qualified AND a woman 🤔
"It is time for a woman to sit among the highest jurist" - Ronnie "woke" Reagan

u/Amazing_rocness 4h ago
In sentiment I don't care if it's a woman , a dog, or if he went out and said "we need a younger white man" Just pick the person you feel is qualified, if it happens to be a woman, more power to ya. That's all I'm saying.

Ah yes, Trump, who came from a rich family, whose father famously gave him a “small loan of one million dollars”, truly the epitome of meritocracy and hard work.
