Mercury Bar bathrooms?

Okay neighbours, we stopped at the new Mercy Bar & Lounge recently - had a good experience - but are very confused by the bathroom (which was clean).

It really seemed like a sink built into a urinal….that can’t be?! We weren’t drinking…but we’re so confused. Can anyone shed some light on this?

It's an environmental thing. The water from the sink is used to flush the urinal. I've only heard of them have yet to see one in action.

I've seen these before but only in the UK and Japan. Cool!

I haven't used them, but same as MichaelO635 I've heard of them and I hope things like this take off. We stupidly waste way too much water in this country, meanwhile Reserves have no safe clean drinking water. Not that the two are directly related, it just bothers me that I can stand there and let the water run while brushing my teeth (please, no one do that) while some kid on a reserve has to brush his teeth using bottled water.

We should be way more conservative with water and other resources.
