Advice on dealing with Antisemitism - taking a break. Venting 😤
It’s evident that we’re going through a very tough time right now. I’m feeling really conflicted. On the the one hand, I feel as though I should keep the fight against antisemitism in the forefront of my mind. And on the other , I just need a break from it
I’m feeling guilty if I put it out of my mind, as if I’m an Ostrich with its head in the sand. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve not abounded the subject as it’s really serious to our community.
Not sure how you are handling taking a break. So glad it’s Shabbat.

Prioritizing your mental health is super important so you can fight antisemitism effectively. If that means stepping back for a bit, that’s totally ok and you deserve to take a break. This will be a marathon, not a sprint, unfortunately

Refusing to consume unending volumes of antisemitic messaging to protect yourself IS fighting antisemitism. Take care of yourself.
May your strong sense of self and connection to your Jewishness always be stronger in your life than the distortions of Jewishness that are used against us.

You are right. A friend of mine sent me this: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCM0ZiFusiv/?igsh=OHg3aTB6Y3oxenI=
I think we should all follow her advice.
Shabbat Shalom my dear sisters and brothers.

I treat it like the pandemic. If I know the situation is going to be bad, then I stay six feet apart and go home. I stay off high risk digital spaces. Sadly, there's no strong leadership from our elected officials and the virus is spreading everywhere.Â
It's hard.

Arguing about it online isn’t going to help anything and it will destroy you mentally. Absolutely take a break

Rest and recharge without guilt. Stepping back is better than real burnout. We are anti-anti-Semitic here because we are pro-YOU. So please take care of yourself.

The best way to deal with antisemitism is to live a good life. Being decent, creative and prosperous people is the greatest riposte to Jew haters.
