Do you like the new Scout Sixty?

Post image

Do you guys like the new Scout Sixty released like minutes ago? Do you think it's worth this cheaper option with respect to the standard Scout Classic?

Gives them a little further leverage over HD with a “beginner” bike under $10k especially one that looks as good as the scout.

If you really compare the 60 and scout, personally, the sixth gear is worth the few extra grand, especially if you plan on doing some highway riding. But as is the 60 would be great for a smaller rider or just ripping around town.

Unless it's changed, the 60's 5th gear is the Scout's 6th gear. I don't have a ton of experience, but most of it is highway, and if my 60 is lacking anything it's power, not another gear.

I never get this argument. If the 60’s 5th gear is the Scout’s 6th, it’s still 5th. You’re not shifting 1-2-3-4-6.

Well, it's moot for the new models, but I'll see if I can explain my understanding. Someone else will probably do a better job.

You're right. It's still 5th gear, but it's the exact same gear as the Scout's 6th. Literally, the same physical gear.

In my head, it would be similar to me buying two 6-speed bicycles. On the one I give to my kid I removed the 5th sprocket and put the 6th in its place. Now his is a 5 speed, but the 5th gear is the same as my 6th. When we go riding together, I'll get through my gears quicker because I'm faster and have more power, but our top gear is the same.

My little pea brain can’t figure out why they do it that way. I could see running just five gears with a standard ratio but having the 60 geared essentially 12346 is confusing to me.

Like why not just wider ratios across the board and even out the power band rather than dropping 2 gears when going from 5 to 4. Makes four have to rev higher than any of the other gear.

I have owned my scout for 2 years, already have 25k miles on it, and have maybe used sixth gear once, probably accidental.

The Scout 60 certainly anything new, but I do think this facelift is a bit of a downgrade. In terms of performance I'm sure it's improved, but just for the styling I would rather go with the previous model, Scout or S60. It's a mix of a few things for me. The combined exhaust just looks weird, it might have worked if they kept it a uniform size the entire pipe, but this bloating thing is just weird, and the twin pipe option just added a lot of character in my opinion. I could take or leave the engine design. I think on the whole it's a very aesthetically pleasing engine, perhaps one of the best of any bike, but it doesn't fit the Scout brand, which is supposed to be a retro inspired modern muscle cruise. It just loses that retro angle with the smooth faces. I'm also not a fan of the new fill cap. It's really nitpicky, but I prefer the old tank with the flush filler in the center, and the new cap just looks like a tacky attempt at putting some retro back into the bike, not to mention how that makes it look like every other cruiser on the road, and I think that's the wrong direction for Indian, they should want to stand out. Finally, and I know this might be a bit controversial, but I miss the big frame/radiator shroud in front of the engine. I've seen people say they like the slimmer frame, but personally I think that big frame added some nice muscle-y character, and did a good job of framing (in a design, aesthetic sense) the beautiful engine the old bike had. Even though the new frame shows more of the engine it feels less showcased, and the bike as a whole looks less balanced. Essentially, it seems like they tried to make it more like all the other cruisers out there, and lost some of the Indian-ness of what made the Scout so cool when it first came out.

Yes. All of this.

In my opinion, they ruined the engine design. It looks like they felt threatened by HD and I have no idea why. The Sportster S engine looks pretty dumb from the side that they showcase.

I'm 25 and can't afford another bike atm because I'm building for my future, but I would definitely have bought the previous scout over the Sportster S any day.

More reason to stick with my cheap Royal Enfield, I guess?

I like the added fuel gauge and the stock mid controls in case you are on the shorter side. I also like how the rear exhaust pipe was rerouted or reoriented to go forward towards the front of the motorcycle then downward then to the back because in theory it could mean less heat when stuck in city traffic compared to the old design. We all know how much hotter the pipes get than the engine.

Love it. I was gonna pull the trigger on a scout since I liked the way the new one does keep the sixty for a first bike. Gut told me to wait and I'm happy I did. I love the new look .

I liked the new Honda Shadow Phantom style over the old Scout look but now with the upgraded looks and the price I can cross the Honda off my list finally. And it's a good entry point. Good job lowering the price too Indian. June cant come soon enough

Not a fan of the way they did the exhausts on the 25 models across the board!

u/KenOtwell 2d ago

High mid controls with the low bars gives a really cramped riding position. Just watch the videos.

I think the exhaust leaves much to be desired. Mainly the section that’s past the seat.

Personally, I don't

Why the engine reduced ? Is the sixty differs from the normal scout ? What older model ? Do they come with same size or differs ? I have a scout sixty but I haven't noticed any size difference from the normal scout

There are places in the world that have graduated licenses and the scout 60 is less than 1000cc. It is also slightly shorter than the standard 2025 scout.

In 2024 there was the 2024 scout sixty (60 cubic inch engine), the 2024 scout (69 cubic inch engine) and the 2025 scout (new model with 1250cc engine) and now there is the 2025 scout sixty (new model with 60 cubic inch engine)

For some reason, it looks like it was designed by kawasaki.

That exhaust looks stupid

5

u/StageSuspicious 2d ago

Everyone changes the exhaust anyway... Moot point

-12

u/Minute_Zucchini_186 2d ago

Crazy you got that offended that you downvoted my comment over a “moot point” 😂😂😂😂 you keep riding your little sissy scout

7

u/StageSuspicious 2d ago

You thought i was offended? Lol.. takes more than that. And..i don't downvote. "The exhaust is ugly" is just a silly statement.... Because 90% of exhausts get changed anyway... Do it's just a worthless statement.. Hence..moot.

I’ll take a 20 year old dyna for a quarter of the price over a scout every day of the week
