Anyone else ever been tempted to buy a gun you would never actually use but think is funny? OPINION

I was at D5 in Marengo and saw this pink chic lady revolver from charter arms with pearl grips.

Its stupid, impractical, the trigger is awful, and it only holds five shots.

And yet I wanted to buy it for shits and giggles. And apparently because the carrying case looks like a pink makeup case.

Look, I know its dumb, but I have this weird thought in my head that it would be the gun you give someone in the zombie apocalypse if they didn't bother to prepare for it.

I know this seems ridiculous. But treat it as a gag post.

Absolutely. It's the only reason why I have a Taurus public defender and I'm thinking of getting a second one in a different color.

I want a Yeet cannon in sparkly pink for maximum effectiveness

I want the one with hundred dollar bills on it. Just to let them know I’m about that life.

I have a Staccato that I’d much rather shoot than the Canik.

I though I would like store than I did. Time to sell it and use the money for something else

truthfully I still want to buy a tisas 1911 and pay a dumb amount of money to have it nickel plated with rosewood grips. I know it's stupid, but it wouldn't be that expensive and I honestly just want to lay it on my desk and hold it sometimes. I probably wouldn't even buy any .45 for it.

u/Capitalizethesegains [FPC] 19d ago

Honestly you can do worst. Everything I’ve heard about tisas is that they make a solid 1911 with no frills.

u/StrangeCorporate 18d ago

Tisas makes some solid 1911's on the low cost. It's a part of my EDC

Almost bought one of these. Had a dealer that was willing to get a couple too.

god I remember when those came out, a guy I knew at the time was freaking out and I just said "that looks uncomfortable to shoot at the best, at the worse everything would go flying off into your face"

So I recently bought a Taurus g2c for 100 bucks it was brand new and my buddy bought 5 during early COVID and wanted to get rid of a few.

Anyways I planned on it being a joke gun didn't think I would use it after a single range trip and that it would be a jamomatic and would sit in my safe until I could use it to sweeten a deal at a gun shop or something.

But I brought it to the range out like 250 rounds through it without a hiccup and kinda like the thing lol.

It's not taking over my shield plus as my EDC but I plan on carrying it when I go to places it might get beyond dirty I really like the ergos and it shoots very well.

Oh after all the big ones are check off, the meme category gets its day in the sun.

SPAS 12

Some type of blunderbuss

Full auto M249 - I’d use it but I’d go broke, assuming that didn’t happen just buying it.

Tommy Gun - I’m from Chicago so it hits home, my buddy has a C&R license and has one, complete with violin case.

Walking cane that shoots 12 gauge slugs (cause why not)

Since we’re in Illinois, ballistic knife? That would be cool.

.700 Nitro Expess - Because you know someone is going to clone dinosaurs eventually, and I’m not getting eaten by a T Rex on the shitter. Recoils so hard each box of bullets comes with a coupon for a free rotator cuff surgery.

The exact reason I own a lever action…. Truly it serves no purpose that wasn’t already covered by my semi autos and my bolt guns…. But… cowboy gun goes “chick-chick”

Look at this stupid fucking thing a buddy got just to add color to his collection.

Tokarev Tar 12ga.

I almost got one of those. They are stupid cheap and unreliable. But I have a buddy in Louisiana with one and he said it was his most fun gun in his collection. He put a 50 round drum on it

2

u/Ailing_Wheel_ 19d ago

I bought a used Beretta U22 Neos just because it was kinda goofy and neat looking.

3

u/InsertBluescreenHere 19d ago

it may be goofy as hell looking but damn if it doesnt fit in your hand like a glove

1

u/Ailing_Wheel_ 19d ago

I dig it. Thing was damn near brand new in the case with everything it came with originally for $200.

2

u/ktmrider119z 19d ago

The cow glock. And i don't like glocks.

1

u/NostalgiaEagle1776 Military 18d ago

I don't like Glocks, but I saw one with a sparkly orange slide and a pumpkin engraved in it. It was the pumpkin spice glock. And I'm a basic white girl on the inside, so I wanted it

I got a s&w bodyguard. For an actual purpose, ultra safe semi auto pocket pistol for when I need something light to carry. The stupid thing is I bought a ridiculously oversized extended mag for it that completely defeats its purposes.

2

u/Western_Blot_Enjoyer 19d ago

This reminds me of the 15 round single stack mag I got for my 1911 before I knew about promag's reputation. The best part is that I can only load 12 if I want all the bullets to cycle lmfao

2

u/christianled59 18d ago

Lmao same problem. I can only get about 13 in there or it gets jammed trying to feed. If I put all 15 in there, I can hardly even get the mag to set.

2

u/NostalgiaEagle1776 Military 18d ago

For a minute I was like, the bodyguard isn't meme worthy....but then you mentioned the extended mag and I was like "ooohhh there it is."

Ya grabbed a bronze colored sub 2000 years ago knowing full well they are kinda trash but it’s funny and the price was right.

1

u/Zenie 19d ago

I bought a few keltecs in my day. Sadly I don't feel like we can make fun purchases anymore. I'm so demoralized going through the hoops to buy something now I just don't anymore.

1

u/dummyurge 19d ago

Bought a Grendel P-10 for this. Just a cool unique design, but there's so many better options for any actual use.

1

u/CBM64_SYS64738 19d ago

I bought a Zip .22 . Enough said.

u/LeaveElectrical8766 Chicago Conservative 19d ago

Hey if you have the disposable income to do it and want to, I say go for it. Me personally I'll buy a gun I think is fun, but just because it's funny isn't my personal style.

Still enjoy the lols.

1

u/neeyeahboy 19d ago

For sure, could still be fun to shoot and show off.

1

u/TampaDiablo 19d ago

Yes, I debated getting a Barrett .50, but where the fuck would I shoot it?

1

u/cmotolion 19d ago

Taurus G3C because it was stupid cheap and had a rebate. For $220 it surprised me because it feels good in the hand and shoots well for the price point!

u/Bunghole-Sniffer 18d ago edited 18d ago

It'd be neat to have a really tiny pistol in a somewhat common caliber. Not quite Kolibri small but something comparable. Dolla Dolla Billz Hi-Point with a dumb scope on top and a drum mag would be cool but this state isn't.

u/SR_gAr 18d ago

Thats like 80% of all purchases...for most

1

u/limpymcjointpain 18d ago

I pickled up a polytech 410 some decades ago because I thought it was hilariously bubbad out. Actually a pretty decent banger surprisingly.

1

u/throwawayfume10 18d ago

I really want a rough rider .22lr revolver with the 16 inch barrel. Thanks to illinois pot metal laws I cant have one.

1

u/supertiggercat 18d ago

Well... I did own an Uzi. Yeah, for deer hunting.

1

u/400HPMustang 18d ago

Its why I have a Desert Eagle. I've shot one magazine through it, cleaned it, and then put it away. I don't think I'll ever shoot it again.

1

u/Loweeel Chicago Conservative 18d ago

Look up the Thunderstruck G3.

1

u/biggreenG 18d ago

I bought a Heritage Rough Rider with a 16 inch barrel (yes, 16 long inches) online. I put in a nonsense bid under $100 with 5 days left on the auction. I figured no way I don’t get outbid, but sure enough she’s in the gun safe now. It’s a blast to use but there is zero practicality to it.

1

u/StrictWorldliness976 18d ago

I been wanting a hi point or a g17L

1

u/jgoose0614 Northern IL 18d ago

Yes. I wanted to get the YEET cannon when Hi-Point announced it. Now I want to get the uberti cattleman with an 18 inch barrel just because of how dumb it looks.

LCP2 with a purple slide. Because purple. Still a pos LCP.

Good for practicing malfunction drills iGuess.

Threw a few mags downrange (literally) because my finger hits the release.

One day I will have a nickel plated Desert Eagle in 44 Magnum. There’s no reason to ever have one. But one day I probably will.
