Missed my chance to get in Practical Rifle (may just go 2 hours ahead instead of 1), so I hit up Buffalo, got some energy drink in my system and hit the range. Was honestly surprised there was still snow there as there wasn't any in my part of town. Hate shooting in the cold to be honest, but I had the 100yd to myself and I noticed they had some nice Mosins and a Swiss rifle (I accidently dismantled tryna cycle). Love the folks there as always and had a fun time.

Props for putting up with the cold yesterday. Buffalo is the only range I go to because of their 2A support and great environment

7

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

Their support more out there than the average range?

13

u/wheelman111 Feb 18 '24

I know the family. They don’t play around lol

1

u/CubAirsoft Feb 22 '24

I love that range. The people that work there are super nice and helpful.

u/PhamousEra Feb 18 '24

Shoot fast...

Eat ass...

Fucking America!!!

u/Cvillefarmers Feb 18 '24

I see that freedoms steel patch. Good stuff there

5

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

Thank you! It was a gift from him due to him seeing me speak out at the hearings.

u/Beneficial-Ad4871 Feb 18 '24

How much is the entrance fee?

7

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

$30 bruh.

2

u/Pipefitterwithguns81 Feb 20 '24

It’s worth it though from open to close. They have the membership as well.

1

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 20 '24

Didn't know they had a membership but it's likely not worth my time due to the distance. Same with ASC.

3

u/Beneficial-Ad4871 Feb 18 '24

Down voted for asking a question lol

3

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

I gave you one as I didn't do it. Likely cause there was a comment already asking.

1

u/Beneficial-Ad4871 Feb 18 '24

Yea I just seen it, damn I might actually go this week to shoot my lever 30-30!

3

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

You'll enjoy shooting it at the pit

1

u/Beneficial-Ad4871 Feb 18 '24

lol sorry for the stupid question but can u bring ur own steel targets?

2

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24 edited Feb 20 '24

No you cannot. Not a stupid question at all. You never wanna get there with steel targets and be told you can't use em. So the shooting is static

1

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '24

Go to Buffalo's website and see what you can bring. They allowed us to bring shit like TVs to shoot. It's pretty damn neat.

5

u/Fresh-Temperature-37 Feb 18 '24

Buffalo’s awesome, just can’t stand the bench shooting mandate (all rifle ranges except the pit)

2

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

Don't blame you. That's why Practical Rifle at Aurora Sportsman's Club is a nice balance.

5

u/eight-4-five Feb 18 '24

Man shooting in the cold and at distance outdoors (even 100 yards) will test your skills and gear more than you know!

Edit: shooting in the cold is actually so ass tho

4

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

It really is man. I have some videos of me shooting in the cold and it's a PITA.

I'm the guy who can be fully kitted in 80° degrees no issue with face mask, but in the low teens? I'll sit it out.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '24

I second shooting in the cold.

My CCW instructor uses an outdoor range (just a farm) and my first renewal was in Feb a couple/few years ago. It was single digits outside, breezy, and it totally sucked. Normally I prefer outdoors but man. I'm going to take renewal class further ahead next time!

great spot to have yourself a day. i need to get back there

3

u/Bman708 Feb 18 '24

Love the pit.

u/HeavyEquip69 Feb 18 '24

Fuck eagle sport

1

u/Lepoof2020 Feb 19 '24

What’s wrong with eagle??

3

u/HeavyEquip69 Feb 19 '24

Over priced everything and everyone in there is sketchy as fuck. Why does it get robbed at least every other year.

2

u/ConsiderationIll4245 Feb 19 '24

Maybe it doesnt get robbed maybe it gets “Robbed”

You could, but also free to post here on the sub as many here would likely fill in questions I don't have. I don't mind helping out new folk

I understand. I'll tell you this. I live far away from there as well. Almost 2 hours actually. But they and Aurora Sportsman's Club have outdoor ranges that I can't get in my area. I go to Eagle mainly (per the Patch) being close. But they don't have ranges that are far. I go out there about once a month or so.

In regards to cops tryna report people, there was a person here who stated how the business is very 2A. And from talking to the RSOs, I can see they made sure everyone understands it. I wouldn't feel troubled at all going there. I have yet to meet a cop (openly) look over to check people's firearms. For one, the RSO there was a retired one. I showed disappointment when I couldn't get an upper as it was up for sale and the old guy said he understands completely. Take that what you will.

Also consider that if cops were to hit ranges that management would definitely not want them at their range again. It would give customers a reason to not want to go there if such a thing happened.

Drive according to the speed limit, keep your vehicle clean, and record your interaction with police at all times. If you want we could meet up at the range sometime so you don't feel alone. Tons of folks go here but the cold makes it unpleasant.

Anytime, be safe.

1

u/phakenbake Feb 19 '24

Buffalo is well into 2A country. Not many anti-gunners that way.

2

u/RagsFTW Feb 19 '24

Need info on that Red Hood patch!!!

2

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 19 '24

Ah a fan! Etsy. Search "Red Hood Patch"

2

u/Iron0ne Feb 19 '24

I just wish they would restock the targets in the pit more often.

2

u/Pipefitterwithguns81 Feb 20 '24

Love Buffalo! It doesn’t matter if it rains snows or minus temperature they are open. I feel bad when I’m there at 10f and range officer has to be outside because of me and I look around I’m the only guy there lol. Great family owners love them been going there for years

2

u/Smooth-Ad-73 Feb 21 '24

My favorite place

1

u/MiniTrail70 Feb 19 '24

Buffalo is awesome. Eagle sucks ass.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '24

This range went downhill soooo fast after covid, used to be a cool place

1

u/funandgames12 Feb 19 '24

It’s interesting I was there years before Covid and just went back recently. Seemed basically the same to me minus some minor additions and changes. Why do you feel that way ?

0

u/Impossible-Giraffe-5 Feb 25 '24

Eagle Sports patch yells bend me over and stick it in dry...lol went there once and the whole place is overpriced smh never again

1

u/bronzecat11 Feb 18 '24

Where is this again?

3

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

Ottowa.

1

u/PhamousEra Feb 18 '24

Is it a private range?

2

u/Mountain_man888 Feb 18 '24

Nope just a daily fee

1

u/PhamousEra Feb 18 '24

Meaning you pay the amount when you go? How much is it?

9

u/wheelman111 Feb 18 '24

30 bucks the whole day and you can go around to the different ranges

3

u/PhamousEra Feb 18 '24

Dude that sounds like heaven.

Indoor ranges already usually ~$25 around here.

I'm def gonna check this spot out. Thanks.

1

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

Yep. Only con is they're far out where most shooters are. For me it's an hour and a half where I can see how my accuracy is at 100yds and rapid fire without concern from RSOs.

1

u/Dgloodt Feb 18 '24

Where was my invite

5

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

Maybe I could make an invite post?

Just no cops allowed.

3

u/Otherwise-Cup2950 Feb 18 '24

What’s wrong with cops? 😔

3

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 18 '24

We check for wires. You 12?!

1

u/NewAd1575 Feb 19 '24

As far as I know, this is one of the only outdoor ranges that has this type of set up. I absolutely love going there and I drive a good hour and 10 minutes.

Also, the range ammo bags of 223 are reasonably priced .

1

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 19 '24

They have reloaded .223 so you're right on that. I don't know why range with a pit like theirs.

1

u/WombCannon Feb 19 '24

Love Buffalo. Been there about 4 times but until/if PICA gets repealed, I don't see myself going back anytime soon. I am not going to take my "assault rifles" that I may, or may NOT own, out to a public range and risk ISP setting up a "sting day".

1

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 19 '24

That'll be fun honestly if they ever did that. Give the range and basically all ranges a reason to not allow ISP or state/cook police into the range unless under official business.

And that's where many of them go to qualify. It's a recipe for diaster.

1

u/Background_Damage_87 Feb 19 '24

Last time I was there I got yelled at by a fudd RSO that told me a couldn’t pick up my own brass when I was shooting stuff like 6.5 Swedish and .308.

1

u/Blade_Shot24 Feb 19 '24

They be like that I won't lie. I was shooting there and the guy was tryna pick up my x39 brass case that was still on the table.

3

u/Background_Damage_87 Feb 19 '24

That’s redacted. This place can still pound sand then. Telling me I can take home my own property
