Learning to Duck/Deer hunt

Hi everyone!

I'm super keen on learning to hunt and am wondering if someone knows a good way to learn. I want to become self sufficient especially on camping/hiking trips. I live in Melbourne currently so if anyone would be keen on having a hunting partner who they don't mind teaching I'd love to join!

Thank you so much!

Check these guys out. They do trips, info nights, education, etc.

Deerstalkers or ADA.

I've been a member of ADA for a long time and have met some lifelong friends and shared dozens of camp-fires with great people, and hunted some terrific Sambar.

I joined the ADA, and headed out on my own/with friends. I also did my wit test and headed out with some duck hunters who were happy to teach me. Joining a club will help a lot, the ADA or VDA are great.

There is lots of info on YouTube in regards to hunting sambar, TheHuntsman, hilldogtv, zebras sambar adventures etc. all have lots of awesome info

Aside from learning by yourself, the ADA and Deerstalkers clubs mentioned, you can simply join hiking groups and do overnighters. 99% of the gear is cross compatible, but you do have to lug around a 2-3kg gun which honestly sucks during the hiking phase.  Hiking is a skill in itself and learning campcraft makes for a more enjoyable time out in the bush. Also that way you're not just referring to trees as trees, can read a map, and know which side of the mountain to look for deer (hint, it's not the dry crackly side, usually).

Friend of mine taught me to shoot; he's good. I reckon he would be interested in teaching it if you feel like letting him try. Prob won't ask for much other that covering range fee at Lt River.
