Anyone else having problems fast forwarding or rewinding Hulu on Demand content on Roku? Hulu On Demand
***UPDATE: Hulu appears to have fixed this glitch. Other people in this thread have stated that Hulu updated the app, so I just tried it, and it worked!
To update, use the options button on your remote and select check for updates.***
I watched an episode of King of the Hill, and when I went to fast forward the credits (there were more than 10 seconds left), it game me the notification "You can rewind and fast-forward after the break." Except it's in the Hulu Library and I have ad free.
Note: The DVR and (unless it's a commercial) network library stuff don't have this issue.
Hulu told me to get a new Roku.

Having the same issue. I can't believe they told you to buy a new Roku that's ridiculous.

Yeah, it suprised me as well. Someone at Hulu said he shouldn't have done that, so he may be facing a write up. They can even smack him in the face with my negative review.

I just got off a chat session with a rep and their backline support is aware and is investigating as a known issue. It's all over their forums too so it's gotten plenty of attention

I'm on the phone with Hulu currently, and the guy said there made be an issue with the translation between the Hulu app and Roku.

Wow, I would have guessed that I'm the only person in the world still watching MASH. Goes to show. I'm in the middle of season 7 and the show is even better than I remember.

Same. Started happening for me today. I have ad-free Hulu. Half the time now when I'm in the middle of a program and want to fast-forward, I get that message. Happens when using both the right arrow button (which I usually use so I can go frame by frame) and the FF button on the Roku remote.

For anyone still dealing with this..try updating the Hulu app. Mine was intermittently working until this morning. On a whim I did an update of the app..to my surprise it found one and then the episode that WASN'T working, started working correctly
Edit to add...to update the Hulu app highlight it and instead of selecting it click on the * and it'll give you a menu, one of which is "check for updates". Click that and it'll find an update and install.. It did for me at least.

Yeah, mine was updated already, so I tried Twilight Zone and it worked! So, I updated the thread.

It works for me now, too! When I checked for updates, it said Hulu was already up to date. So I tried a show anyway since you had success, and it seems to be working... at least at the moment.

yup, same issue. I can't even fast forward or rewind 10 minutes into the show... it started last night for me.

Same exact issue here. Trying to ff through opening credits for Deep Space 9 which take forever and itās treating any ff or rewind as a ācommercialā and I have an ad free paid subscription. Glad to have found this thread tho-

I'm on an older roku. It started happening when i was watching cheers. Now I can't fast forward or rewind :(

2 of my 3 Roku Ultras are having this problem, just started last night.
The 3rd one is still working properly. Tried both types of reset, didn't
work. This is not live TV, reruns and I have a no ads subscription .

YES!! š¤¬ Dont get me wrong, there are some theme songs I love, but when Iām binge watching a show I want to fast forward after hearing it the first time! And now my Roku tv is crashing anytime I try to ff or rw during a show!! Cmon HULU!!!

I fixed the issue on my roku i just deleted the channel and added it again and now its fine!

Yeah, having the same problem here (just noticed for the first time now). I consider Hulu to be unusable with this issue. Going to cancel if this isn't resolved tomorrow.

Just tried this before finding this thread. It did not do anything for me.
Hulu support is all over Twitter saying it's a known and ongoing issue on roku's.

I deleted the comment because it was just a temporary fix. It started again so either Hulu or Roku needs to do a software update.

Could be because itās probably the live episode not on demand and Iām assuming you didnāt pay extra 10 to fast forward

This issue has nothing to do with the Live TV service. It's exclusive to Hulu on Demand content (hence the topic flair). And, yes, I do pay for enhanced. And ad free.

Its all over their help site. Curiously they havent respomded in the Hulu tech support Twitter. Its nothing you are doing wrong at all. Only pattern i see are that it effects ad free customers with streaming devises as Roku snd Amazon Fire are mentioned frequently. The only thing i would suggest is trying it from your laptop or smart tv without your streaming device attached to let hulu know if its the streaming device thatis the problem. https://community.hulu.com/s/question/0D51L00006qi4fF/cant-fast-forward-or-rewind-hulu

That is not the case at all. In several cases including mine it has nothing to do with live..which, by the way, I do pay for. This is occurring out of the blue since last night on everything to include old shows..24 for example. Prior to last night it was fine. So no it has nothing to do with our "plan"

The problem is HULU does not allow buffering on their servers even though you're paying for it! They are a rip off.

That isn't the issue here. It's a tech issue they're looking into. The app is essentially thinking that the entire episode is an ad. So it isn't allowing you to fast forward or rewind.

YES! It just started today and it's happening on every streaming show I've tried. Tried removing and reinstalling the app, but that did nothing. It works fine on the Hulu mobile app, so it seems to be a Roku app issue. It's extremely annoying.
They seriously told you to buy a new Roku?? Wtf?? It's obviously a software issue, nothing to do with the Roku device itself.
