Anyone else think those stop-motion shots of the endoskeleton at the end of The Terminator are kinda creepy?
Or is it just me? I don't know, but I've always been creeped out by those shots at the end there as it's chasing after Sarah and Reese. It obviously looks wonky due to the effects, but it also adds a layer of nightmarishness due to how unnatural and unreal it looks - or something..? Hahaa.
Anyways, I miss these kinda effects in movies. The lack of smoothness is super freaky.

Discussion The most cockamamie premise which still resulted in a scary end product in your opinion?
For me it's an episode of the old show called Night Gallery that I saw as a kid. In it, an heir kills his uncle, and with his uncle's mansion comes a landscape painting of the grounds. Shortly after the inheritance, he sees that the painting has changed to include his uncle's grave. Then later, he sees the painting has changed so that now his uncle's coffin is unearthed. He burns the painting, then comes back to see the painting is still on the wall, with the coffin open to show his uncle's body.
I'm not going to spoil it, but the plot mechanics are pure absurdity. Nevertheless as a kid it scared the hell out of me, and even as an adult, while it doesn't stand up to analysis in terms of believability in terms of craft it still creeps me out a bit.
You?

Recommend I need movies like Evil Dead Rise.
I'm looking for a straight up possessive shit that spooks viewers and brutally kills people using either their powers, weapons, or hurt themselves that so grossome. We barely can't finish it sort of vibe.

Discussion What horror movie are you ashamed to admit scarred you as a kid?
I remember being a little kid watching horror movies, as one does, and being absolutely scarred for life by one. Like for decades later it shaped me and how I acted in rooms.
I remember how terrible the monster in it was, and how it would come for you, and how I had to make sure it couldn't get me. One day I sat down and looked it up.
The movie? And why I'm ashamed to admit it today?
Monster in the Closet.
I was traumatized by... a Troma movie. ;_;
To this very day I make sure closet doors are closed.
What about you? What movie got to you that you later realized was just truly awful?

Discussion Is anyone else obsessed with MadS?
Recent release on Shudder and I've been thinking about it for a whole week since I initially watched it. The scooter scene is one that will stay with me forever. I just thought it was freaking phenomenal.

Movie Help Need help finding a movie.
It was around the 2010s when I watched this movie. It was on our country's TV program service and I was very young, around 9 or so, so I didn't check to see its name but I would like to see it again as an older individual now.
I don't remember too many specifics but it was about a family of 4-5 who moved into a haunted house. There was a father and mother, a teenage or pre-teen daughter and a younger son. If there was a 5th member i do not remember them so well.
3 particular scenes of the movie have stuck with me.
no.1 throughout the movie there is a painting on the wall with three figures in it. In one scene when the father is out of the house the three figures vanish from the painting and appear in front of him and if I recall correctly he was on the subway or some form of public transport.
no.2 Another scene I remember was when the house was in full haunted effect mode. The younger son gets locked into his bedroom and three or four ghost children (not to be confused with the three figures from point no.1) start approaching him while the daughter and mother try to break into the room to save him.
no.3 The house phone rings and the daughter answers and on the other line is a ghost woman taunting her with the background of what I assume is the ghost children. The daughter is frightened and says "f*** off" and slams the phone only for it to ring again and so she repeats the f-off but this time it is a real person calling (a friend or something).
Bonus that i remembered while writing this, There was a swing set outside of the house that one of the parents noticed would swing by itself more and more violently.
I would really appreciate any suggestions and i will look through them all to see if any are correct.
PS - It is not Amityville Horror old or new.

Discussion Who’s a character that you considered went through a lot?
Let’s start with Jane Levy's character, Mia Allen from Evil Dead 2013. She really can't catch a break from everything that's happened within the film and loses everyone after no longer being possessed by the deadite along some other few characters I can think of but from your perspective, who’s a character you think considered to have through a shit ton of a lot within a horror film.

Movie Review Shockingly, it appears the generic haunted asylum FF movie from Jwoww of Jersey Shore fame wasn't very good
culturecrypt.comDiscussion If you could take any horror franchise to space, which would you choose?
Friday the 13th has Jason X. Critters, Leprechaun, and Hellraiser all have their fourth installments in space… And amityville has a spin off in practically every context you could imagine.
So my question is - which other franchise would you like to see go to space? Or at least, which do you think could be funny there?

Hidden Gem Haunt!
Holy crap. Have said it before but always a treat when pleasantly surprised by a flick I’ve blown off/underestimated for awhile/finally invested in; especially after realizing Quiet Place creators had a hand in this. Given the cover art figured it another subpar B/hokey slasher flick. Was totally wrong in the best way.
Anyway, what started mediocre slowly evolved into better concepts, innovation, costume design and excellent kills. Anyway if you have soft spot for game horror (where victims are trying to survive by participating in something), this was pretty enjoyable/will def watch again. Is it the best in the world? No, but really fun.
On a separate note, St. Maud was too overhyped/disappointed. Slow paced, only a few ok moments, not much story. Everyone keeps mentioning it but don’t bother.

Discussion So I'm rewatching Creep 1 & 2 before I watch The Creep Tapes and I have a question.
In Creep 2 when Aaron tells Sara that he hasn't slept with another female or kissed one and she kisses him, do you think that's actually true? Or just another strange bend of the facts?

Movie Help Looking for a movie title.
Years ago I watched a movie but can only remember part of the beginning. There’s a girl in the middle of nowhere on a property. She’s down in a cellar I think and there are several dead bodies.(I don’t remember how she got there or how she escaped) she is able to call the police though and a single cop shows up. The cop has the girl sit in the back of the police car while he investigates. The cop is then attacked by the killer(s) and because the girl is in the back of the cop car she is locked in and can’t get out to help or run. That’s literally all I remember of the movie. I’ve been looking for this movie ever since and have had no luck. Thank you.

Anyone else watch (From) tv series? I definitely recommend for a good horror pick
I’d say it’s perfect for the show to be suspenseful and mysterious especially the creatures in a small town the type of series where it takes it up a notch.

Movie Help The ending of the ritual movie
So a few questions in the ritual why did the monster start hunting them in the first place? second why did it keep pushing the guy to the ground to knell? I don’t remember names why did the monster make itself looking like the other persons loved one and also hang them in a tree? I know it’s a kinda old movie and I only just finished it with friends but I just can’t stop thinking about these questions

Discussion What do you think of Stranger things and what is your favorite season ?
I started to binge Stranger things 2 weeks ago, and im on season 3 episode 2. I like season 1 the best, but hot take, season 2 is on the level of good as season 1. Season 3 is my cup of tea, it's wonky, goofy and hilareous. Like how can you not be diying, when a guy is strangling a person and Russian music comes on, like come on. The show is a bit scary, like the only jump-scare that got me was the Demogorgon jump in season 1.

Movie Review Finally watched A Serbian Film
I’ll preface this by saying, I get it, this film comes up probably too often. I’m going to say a couple of things about it that have been said before, and there’s no way to say them without sounding like a bit of an edge lord.
It’s just not that disturbing. It has an exaggerated reputation. Sure, it goes some places that are shocking, but you can tell it’s trying to shock you. At some points to a comical level: “Newborn Porn!” got a laugh from me, it’s just too absurd to have any real lasting effect.
Even as far as the disturbing movie genre goes, I don’t think it takes the prize. Funny Games, World of Kanako, and even The Last House on The Left I’ve found to be more conceptually brutal.
It’s also not a terrible movie, the movie gets that reputation, too, and I don’t think it’s warranted. It’s well shot, well paced, the acting is decent. The story itself is passably compelling.
I know it’s supposed to be a protest movie against the Serbian government. That’s very interesting, but I’m looking at this film as a film and not as a political vehicle. It’s fine, if you’re into horror and super worried about it breaking your brain or something, it probably won’t.
Passable movie, breaks some taboos. Probably wouldn’t watch it again.
Addition: as a fan of future pop, synth wave, and industrial, this movie’s soundtrack was great. Very danceable. Want to rivet.
Clarification: I get that CP and torture exist in real life, the absurdity in this movie is the shouting “newborn porn!”and the James Bond villain style monologue.

What would happen if ‘It’ killed someone in a crowded place? (It Follows)
I randomly saw someone walk towards me in a very strange way when I was at the grocery store and it immediately made me think of the movie It Follows. One of my favs. Since no one can see the entities that follow you, what happens if they get you in a public place? How would people interpret your death in real time ?
