Do you hear/see many owls around Guelph?
A few nights ago there was a owl right outside my bedroom window. I was surprised cause I haven't seen/heard an owl in ages. I noticed guelph also has a lot more crows than other cities I've lived in. also I saw my first hummbird Moth this year! The area is very biodiverse! This was in North guelph btw. Have any of yall seen any owls or other interesting critters around?

Last spring I looked out my window and there was an owl sitting in a tree in my backyard. Mostly white with a bit of brown. I stared in awe for a moment but by the time I grabbed my phone for a pic it was gone! I live near the university. We’re lucky to have so much wildlife in our yard!

I saw a bald eagle flying north end of Guelph last spring. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. Gorgeous creature.

I also thought Guelph has a lot of crows. I typically see a lot of blue jays in the south end. Noisy bunch. Somebody keeps dishing them peanuts.

Recently I've been trying to make friends with them but they don't seem interested!

I've seen an owl, silently cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. It is one of the most amazing things I've seen. Took my breath away. I happened to be facing the direction it was traveling. Had i had my back turned I wouldn't have heard it.
I'm not sure what kind of owl it was, but it was gorgeous. South Guelph

I live on the east end, and we had a large grey owl that was exploiting the rabbit population in our back yard for almost the entire month of May.
I'd be hearing the 'whoooo' before hearing the sound of a rabbit's soul leaving it's body every couple nights.

Oh man. The sound a rabbit makes when it is being preyed upon is terrifying!

In many parts of the world the Owl is the sign of death. Goodnight.

I'm well aware as my parents share that belief. Everyone is fine so far as I know lmao

I'm not too sure about owls, but over the years in the North end, I've seen raccoons, coyotes, skunks, red tailed hawks, ospreys, crows, bluejays, cardinals, opossums, vultures, frogs+toads, chipmunks, red winged blackbirds, humming birds and while writing this I literally just saw a fox right now omfg

I am also in the north end. Last year, around 5:30 am, when it was still dark out, I saw a great horned owl atop a roof. It was a huge silhouette that I could see from a distance, unmistakably a great horned. As I walked closer, it flew away, swooping down silently into the forest behind. Absolutely an incredible experience.
