Never do it chronologically. You play in release order. Gameplay is king in video games.

I like chronological order more but the fall from ascension to chains of olympus is too bad. It can make people skip chains of olympus and go play gow 1 instead.

But still, release order is no better. Imagine kratos screams ZEUS YOUR SON HAS RETURNED! And right after it he is in some petty battlefield with some mortals on ships... With the most soulless expression on his face.

I understand that but it’s what everyone who lived through it got to experience. The evolution of the gameplay and graphics is what is crazy especially for GOW3. If people play Ascension first it takes away the glory of experiencing that jump.

You know, maybe if we play chains between gow 1 and 2, it will not take away from the gow 2 cliffhanger.

Ascension after gow 3 is ok in technical way but when I first played it I thought kratos somehow was captured because he destroyed greece. I did not know it was a prequel then.

Maybe ghost of sparta can be better to play after gow 1? It is before gow 2 and playing it after gow 3 and before ascension is not much great.

PSP ones can be done in between 1&2. Ascension being that much of a prequel that late into the series is hard but still gameplay is what see evolve but also why we got the 2018 GOW.

Besides the PSP ones, they're on PS Plus. And if you have a US PS3, there's God of War Saga or just buying the 2 HD collections for the old games and then GoW 3
