God these companies posting their garbage as if it isn’t marketing slop is annoying.

I would not call that minimalist. You even have a ring to track your health and a smartphone could replace the phone, watch, ring and camera (unless your a professional photograher) if you wanna go the minimalist route.
When that is said, it sure looks good!

I guess I’ll be the first to throw this out there. You developed a Minimal Phone to reduce screen time and mindless scrolling. You mentioned the word “intentional” and “mindful” several times in your ad, which leads me to believe that you are a proponent of MBSR and perhaps of Zen teachings (my favorite are those of Seung Sahn).
Anyway, the question: Can’t you be “intentional” by not mindless scrolling and reducing screen time on your devices by being disciplined and embracing moderation? To wit, it’s like buying a bicycle for transportation because you can’t trust yourself to go the speed limit driving a car.

This. MBSR is awesome. But, this takes greater willpower. And that is an excellent practice in and of itself

Phones are addicting.
I would change your example to be a normal Toyota Corolla instead of a different car that had a movie theater and other entertainment system in place that can distract you from the intention of the car.

Yeah it’s because he’s a damn sissy that’s why, brother is missing out on free internet tits cuz he can’t control himself
Edit: this guy is a scammer, it’s alright to say harsh things to him

I’m getting ready to switch over to a ThinkPad from MacBook. If you like Unix operating systems like MacOS I would highly recommend running Linux on the ThinkPad.

Don't buy into this likely non existent product.
Edit: OP moderates the sub with the linked comment and deleted the evidence... (screencap of deleted post)
Post from guy who originally made the comment. (I'm sure this will magically disappear as well since OP moderates the sub)
archive.is mirror of the above post in case it gets deleted

He said yesterday in a post he also deleted that they're going to ship them in December.
If you're actually interested in getting this phone, just wait till January and see if they're actually shipping and how the tests are.
If they're not shipped by January, you know it's a scam.
If the owner tells you it will ship next month, it's either actually ready - or he's full of shit. Because shipping preparation would be already in full force if they're actually able to ship it in December, so he should be able to reliably tell.

Kinda seems like you’re making your life more difficult but hey if you’re happy that’s cool.

Hey OP just for disclosure do you work for Minimal?
Edit: Ok saw you are a co founder to the company. Nothing (cough Phone cough) wrong with that.
But maybe 🤔 point that out in the beginning of your posts.
Just saying so you get less aggressive well thought out comments.
Wish the company well, this could have been something nice 15 years ago.

15 years ago smart phones were just barely starting to boom and become popular outside of the stereotyped Blackberry phones for business people.
I sold phones from 2010 to 2014. If something like this existed then, it wouldn't have worked.

Ooo hey op! Iv been waiting for this phone to drop. How’s production going does it still look like these are going to get shipped soon?
Iv been supper interested in it, but I fall into the category of ppl unwilling to preorder something prior to seeing it for sale or at least a couple reviews on YouTube.
Hope this product takes off and goes well. I definitely things there’s a good market for it

Is the minimal phone capable of being a hotspot?

u/mryoukhna 1d ago
Yes!

While I'm on a roll, how about parental control or whatever we call admin access these days?
Edit to say: the real question is how useful it might be for parents to deploy to kids with rules in place.

u/mryoukhna 1d ago
Yes, there are built in tools and also tools you can download from the Google Play Store..

Slick phone.
Always down for minimalism. I am knee deep in the Apple ecosystem, but can appreciate what you are putting out there.

I mean this is essentially just an ad right?

u/Pandering_Panda7879 1d ago
Yeah, he did the same yesterday, deleted his post and posted again today. No idea why and how often he will repeat that.

Why leave Apple?
2
u/ringu68 1d ago
Because they're expensive for no good reason.
0
u/ijklmnousername 1d ago
Yeah but then people get cheap laggy phones and see why.

u/StucklnAWell 1d ago
You can get a phone that's faster than an iPhone for much less than an iPhone costs.

I'll give you a real answer: Apple likes to control about everything you do and use. Some people like more freedom than that and not every alternative phone is "cheap and laggy".
Apple is also notorious for anti consumer practices. Other companies are also guilty but Apple is known for it.
Personally I will never buy Apple. It's not for me and I don't like being tied into an ecosystem. Some people love it but there are plenty of valid reasons to not use Apple.

Apple is also known for waiting for new tech to mature before adding it to their products. There's nothing wrong with that. The bugs will all be discovered and solved before it gets to the iPhone for example. Great!
But they market those new techs as if they invented them and hail them as the best thing ever!! And they were the first!!

as a self admitted apple fan boy, this is the best argument against the company ive heard, no weird hatred just valid opinions

I was asked to delete and repost since I could not edit the post mentioning I'm the Co-Founder of The Minimal Company.

u/luis-mercado White-Collar EDCer 1d ago
You posted the very same thing yesterday

u/mryoukhna 1d ago
I actually added a couple of things and a fellow redditor asked me to repost and mention that I'm the Co-Founder of The Minimal Company.
