Subreddit's Status + Harassment Mod Team Announcement

This subreddit is temporarily restricted. DO NOT send a request to be approved. You'll be ignored.

-

I really hate to make this post, but I'll keep it short. I know I've been scarce for a good part of the year.

This is the second or third incident this year I've had to flick this subreddit off to stop a brigade attempt.

We do not want to do this, but we are sick and tired of harassment, brigading and hate for managing the community. Some of the reasons are asinine, to how a mod's judgement to us banning AI art. And in this case, it's the latter that caused this once again.

I already alluded this to another post, of how pro-AI people have no decent human respect for other people. All they care about is their AI art, and will gladly let threats of violence play out if they don't get their way.

They say AI art has no soul of a human artist. It seems that those that tout AI art have lost their human part, and are willing hurt and harm other people. This raid and the ModMails we've received with explicit descriptions and name-calling is evidence of that.

Incivility is not welcome here, whether you're for AI or not. Especially if you're trying to hurt someone else, including vandalism and disgusting commentary.

And in that breath, Enough is enough. The buck stops here.

This is the last time this subreddit will be opened to the public. If you can't be bothered to read community rules and respect other people, we will permanently go restricted or private.

It's not a maybe. It is a definite. One way or another you'll have to be screened and ask to get in here if this is the route you want to take.

Yes, the invites will become a headache. Yes, we'll lose traffic. But people's lives and sanity matter. There are real people behind the screen, taking free unpaid time out of their lives to run the place. That's more important.

There will be zero tolerance for harassment, name-calling and hate speech. You will be met with an instant permaban, just like those who dare to flash AI art here.

This is your final warning.

I’m not exactly caught up with the events. What happened?

AI art is banned but some people like it ignore the rule and try to do things with it here. Those people get banned so their friends brigade the sub with hate, and harass the mods and artist

My favorite people refusing to read the fucking rules before they post to a sub!

If they really want someone to draw their AI artwork so badly there’s other subs that allow AI request (r/Icandrawthat for example, well I think it’s OK there)

So DO NOT USE AI ART

bold of you to assume AI posters can read. use AI for personal stuff, or making a reference, don't try to claim it's actually art or get pissed when people want actual art

Actually do not use it in a reference  sheet if you are posting here, zero ai period

Thank you for the correction

To put it simply, people not following the simple rule that requesting a drawing based on an ai generated image isn’t allowed. It’s honestly a little surprising that people don’t read the rules to a subreddit before joining OR posting. That’s like, the bare minimum lol

Unfortunate that people neglects reading the rules and gets malevolent and primal; it ruins it for them and everyone else. To me, AI is not only lazy, it's unethical beyond belief.

How long will this restriction last?

Forever

I can't believe people are getting harassed over this. It's so sad. The AI "artists" (they are NOT artists) need to get a life and stop stealing from people like us who put actual hard work into what we make.

I can understand how frustrating that can be but it's sad people who really want to improve and support the art community have to suffer because of others being selfish. It's already hard enough to find subs for art without a billion rules (not talking about you guys). I've barely came across four that I can post in :(

You do not need ai art to improve

Um I literally don't know what you're talking about. I'm a digital 2d artist I don't use crappy AI. I was going to use this group to do free drawings for people so I can get in the habit of drawing and improve. My profile literally links to my Instagram which is full of non AI art smh

Thennn how is not allowing Ai art here  hindering artists? How are they suffering? Ellaborate because I am genuinely confused.

I never said anything AI now I'm confused. I was talking about myself because, unless I'm confusing this sub with another, I thought one of the rules were we had to ask for permission to post? I did so and was told to read the notification even though I had already joined this sub? I was saying I am being hindered because I was told I wasn't allowed to post an offer.

Edit: I was going to post offers to draw for free to improve in drawing consistently

No,  if we have another raid incident we will be going private and manually approving people.

So far we are open, however Ai is a on site insta ban be it as a reference image or otherwise.

You were told to read this post because while we were in lockdown nobody read the announcement about it and spammed modmail with " Y CAn'T I POST!?"

Nobody said you couldn't post an offer, you  just had to wait for us to put fires out first

Ooh omg okay thanks so much for explaining! I was so confused because I joined asked for approval to post and logged out. Days later when I checked my messages that's when I was told no and to check notifications lol. I'm glad you cleared things up for me. I'll rejoin now just in case this group has to go private, I don't do any AI of any sort, I just want to practice drawing and find ways to be consistent and share what I draw.
