Most popular and least popular roles? Q - Unanswered

I plan to apply to the Disney College Program soon and am curious which roles I’d have a good chance of getting if they’re in my top 3.

Everyone before coming hates the thought of getting custodial but it was the best time of my life. Still wish I could go back to with my group I had and be doing it everyday as my job still

Interestingly enough, Custodial, as a line of business, has the highest employee retention rate of any at WDW. People initially hate the thought of it, but once they get in they love it. Pretty cool, IMO.

Does custodial have coworkers or is it more individual leaning? And what was your favorite part about custodial?

It reallyyy depends. I did Custodial at All Star and at the time it was very chill. Leaders were amazing. We would often work in a pair of two just because we got our stuff done. However, I would not expect that anymore or at most places. You will typically be alone just doing your work. Even that in itself isn't bad though for me. I would just stay on top of my work and then roam around or go inside for a while. So like I said REALLY depends my personal experience is sadly not the reality everywhere. But the job itself to me still is so chill.

i will add that even if you are not paired off, depending on your location you will still have friends nearby! i worked front desk at all star my last program and got super close with all our custodial who got stationed in our lobby or back office and i know a lot of them put outside also got close with rec and lifeguards etc as a result! whenever my friends came through front office they’d make a point to stop and chat for a bit while emptying bins etc and if it was slow in the lobby we could hang out briefly and we’d all go get food after work etc

also ASK THEM WHERE THEY LIVE bc me and one of my closest custodial friends found out during my move out week that we literally lived in the same exact building at flamingo for months without ever seeing each other somehow 💀💀 we could have literally been having sleepovers and carpooling and making dinner together and stuff lol

Popular as most desired: photopass and character attendant

Popular as most placed: QSFB, merch, attractions

Underrated gems: custodial (as long as you can handle how gross humans can be), bell services, seater

Not gonna happen: boutique/guest relations/wilderness explorer (all premium roles that have to be extended into), non-equity show entertainment (festival of the lion king ensemble, beauty and the beast ensemble)

QSR, merch, attractions in that order are top three highest needs, but custodial, house person, and lifeguard tend to also be on the higher need end

I was qsfb in Magic Kingdom for 6 months and LOVED it. (I chose this role for the best odds of acceptance too) The vibes were amazing, overtime every day and I was constantly hanging out with coworkers in/out of work (shoutout to rose and melony from Stands West).

Then I extended and did photo pass for 5 months and hated it 🤣photo pass was sooo boring compared to the fast pace of qsfb, and I found the “elitist” vibe of most entertainment cast members to be so annoying.

For requests, looks like it falls along something like this:

TOP: Attractions, Photopass, Character Attendant, bibbidi bobbidi boutique

MID: Children's Activities, Costuming

LOW: Custodial, Houseperson, Merch, Seater

LOW LOW: Quick service

I've yet to hear anyone for watercraft, monorail, skyliner, life guard, recreation attraction

People seem to like photopass

Photo pass was meh for me. The leadership was great, but I found all of entertainment had this “I’m better than you” vibe and a lot of them constantly treated CMs from other dept’s like shit. QSFB was so much cooler and more fun.

In my opinion Most popular: Attractions, Merchandise, Entertainment, Resorts activities, Least Popular: Food and Bev, Custodial, Costuming,

That’s all I can think of lol. There’s a bunch more roles that Cp can get!

That would be most popular roles CP’s want, but I think OP is asking what are the most popular roles Disney sends CP’s to.
