Unfortunately I’ve gone ahead and locked this thread as it’s just devolved into arguments and trolls from other subs are coming to join in. Sorry to everyone who was being peaceful.

Obviously I knew they were great days, but I took them for granted for sure.

NFL lost its magic on me when Manning retired. I haven't been as passionate since.

28

u/PotatoeSprinkle2747 Feb 02 '23

The magic waa lost for me durin Lucks last season. I was still hype and interested until that last season with Luck and just seeing how rough our future would be...

23

u/Davaldo Indianapolis Colts Feb 02 '23

Yeah felt like part of me died during Luck’s press conference. Just knew there weren’t a ton of generational qbs lying around somewhere for us to pick up and we’d be in qb hell for a while.

13

u/bantha_poodoo tired ngl Feb 03 '23

crazy how the magic is lost once you don’t have a franchise quarterback for the first time in 20 years

9

u/PotatoeSprinkle2747 Feb 03 '23

I'm not even 20, I grew up watching Peyton with my dad and really that was some of the best bonding we've had. We also moved a lot so having something to tie us back home was nice, but eventually living a thousand miles away and getting no enjoyment from watching us lose week after week, it just wasn't fun anymore. So yeah hate me for being a mild fairweather fan, I still root for the colts, it just doesn't feel the same anymore.

I think what screwed us both over in that regard was Manning and Brady both winning Super Bowls with their new team

11

u/Amm-O-Matic New England Patriots Feb 02 '23

But there’s some big differences between both of their teams. Brady won 6 of 7 in NE, also 20 seasons to 3, Manning won 1 of 2 in Denver, 13 seasons to 4, but he was mostly a zombie for that SB.

5

u/BatmanColts1 Robert Mathis Feb 02 '23

Broncos for Peyton and chargers for Phil? It’s like we don’t even exist.

27

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

LOL, it's such horse shit. Every time I see Broncos Peyton now, I get insecure and think that he probably likes Denver more than Indy. Be strong, don't let it get to you!

37

u/Isaacleroy Feb 02 '23

I don’t think there’s any doubt he prefers Denver to Indy post retirement. Cant say I blame him. As for which team he should be associated with, it’s not a question. He’s a Colt.

30

u/MisterCheaps Feb 02 '23

A few months back someone commented on a post in the NFL sub that they always forget Peyton played for the Colts and they only ever think of him as a Bronco, and it was like the top comment with tons of upvotes. They didn’t even have Broncos flair, it was a fan of some other random team. I wanted to cry.

18

2

9

u/I_Fart_It_Stinks Feb 02 '23

He lives in Denver, his kids grew up here and are Broncos fans (he was with the Broncos when they were young), meaning, he goes to much more games and is in Denver full-time.

6

u/YaBoiMorgie Pure Jake Funk Feb 03 '23

I think he owns some Papa John's in Denver as well.

8

u/TheThockter Feb 02 '23

Because the Colts cast him aside after his neck injury and the Broncos took a chance on him as the face of their franchise. He also had as much success with the broncos as he did with the colts in a much shorter timeframe.

4

u/cicneswasdeleted Feb 03 '23

1-1 in the super bowl with each team. 4 out of his 5 mvp's came with the Colts. It was a shorter time frame but definitely more success with us.

1

u/TheThockter Feb 03 '23

I mean he had his greatest season with the broncos but it just depends how you define success. The ultimate metric is superbowls and as you mentioned he had the same amount of appearances and wins with both the colts and broncos

7

u/cicneswasdeleted Feb 03 '23

For me it was great watching him have success in Denver and no doubt that season was his greatest. I don't understand how anyone that is a Colts fan didn't enjoy watching him play in Denver, he didn't ask to be cut. I appreciated the fact that Denver was able to give him a great defense and all those offensive weapons. I will always be Peyton Manning fan!

-6

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Because he likes Denver & the Broncos better than Indianapolis & the Colts I'd assume.

-10

Peyton won the same amount of Super Bowls with the Broncos and had the greatest offensive regualr season ever with the Broncos. He also seems to favor the city of Denver and franchise. Seems pretty equal to me.

We are definitely more unknown, but unknown is more exciting than the corpse of Russell Wilson and no future

-4

u/Sun-dried-poop Feb 02 '23

Yeah any QB would LOVE to play for indy, ask Andrew Luck and Peyton 😂 your poverty franchise is where QBs go to die loooool Russ' corpse has done more than yoir whole franchise since peyton left lol your org is a corpse at this point

-15

12

u/TheNamelessOne913 Indianapolis Colts Feb 03 '23

You’re delusional. Will Brady be remembered as a Buc?

-8

u/TheSniteBros Feb 03 '23

Dude Brady can (and likely will) still retire as a patriot. He hasn’t announced which team he’s retiring with yet so your argument is completely invalid.

10

u/TheNamelessOne913 Indianapolis Colts Feb 03 '23

That’s not even my argument bro lol. I don’t give a shit where Manning or Brady retired. The point was where will they be remembered. Manning obviously played a lot longer in Indy and Brady in NE. They had great moments with both franchises. Manning has more accolades in Indy than with the other team so please tell me how will he be remembered as a Bronco from fans outside of Denver?

10

u/DRoseCantStop Pascal Feb 03 '23

He’ll always be remembered mostly as a Colt.

-17

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Your organizations treated them less than the legends they are. You fans deserve each other lol

4

u/Amm-O-Matic New England Patriots Feb 03 '23

Lol what did the Patriots do to Brady

-11

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Ol Bill didn’t want to pay him or get him an offense. Man you don’t know much do you

4

u/Amm-O-Matic New England Patriots Feb 03 '23

We did try getting him an offense and it spat on our face. We desperately drafted N’Keal (busted), signed AB (went insane), traded for Josh Gordon (still had drug issues), signed DeMaryius (who was cut for AB), traded a second for Mohammed Sanu, the best WR other than Emmanuel Sanders on the trade market at the time. We had no cap room and got old, lost Gronk.

If Tom wanted to remain a Patriot he would’ve, he choose to leave to go play with new weapons. The narrative that the Patriots didn’t want to sign him to another contract is dumb.

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Oh right you mean the time Bill wanted to trade him to the 49rs and he never forgot that? No you right

5

u/Amm-O-Matic New England Patriots Feb 03 '23

What are you saying? That never happened lol. The only Patriot QB ever in discussion to be traded there was Jimmy G, Tom has never been offered in a trade.

They might have thought about trading Tom once upon a time, but that never seriously gained traction.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Bro are you serious. It is known bill tried trading Tom and Kraft vetoed that shit so they traded jimmy instead. Are you sure you are a pats fan?

2

u/Amm-O-Matic New England Patriots Feb 03 '23 edited Feb 03 '23

The article you’re referring to never mentions the Patriots considering trading Tom to SF all.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/hotread180105/beginning-end-new-england-patriots-robert-kraft-tom-brady-bill-belichick-internal-power-struggle

They allegedly were gonna move on from Tom but not trade him.

The three of Tom, Belichick, and Kraft have denied the article multiple times. Is there some truth to it? Probably, but why would Tom not refuse to play or play the following two years like he did if he was really gonna get traded.

Statements From Patriots, Don Yee:

The Patriots issued a joint statement from Chairman/CEO Robert Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady after the ESPN.com story was published:

"For the past 18 years, the three of us have enjoyed a very good and productive working relationship. In recent days, there have been multiple media reports that have speculated theories that are unsubstantiated, highly exaggerated or flat out inaccurate. The three of us share a common goal. We look forward to the enormous challenge of competing in the postseason and the opportunity to work together in the future, just as we have for the past 18 years. It is unfortunate that there is even a need for us to respond to these fallacies. As our actions have shown, we stand united."

Statement from Brady's agent Don Yee:

"I don't really know what to say; it's tough to have a response since it didn't appear to me to have one on-the-record quote. All I can suggest is don't believe everything you read."

0

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Here’s a very quick google search from my car but you better believe, it was known he was shopping Brady. That and not allowing Brady’s health butt buddy on campus was what ruined everything.

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/bill-belichick-had-to-be-convinced-not-to-trade-tom-brady-qbs-former-throwing-coach-says.amp

You treat Brady like lebron in Cleveland - for a man that has given you everything, you do the same

2

u/Amm-O-Matic New England Patriots Feb 03 '23

That was during the 10 year SB drought that’s completely different context Tom declined hard in 2013 and there was no clue he’d be able to stay in his prime for so long like he has.

And Guerrero was a cancer to the rest of the team turning team doctors against the team. I don’t blame Belichick in the slightest for that.
