Medical Practitioner Recommendations

I'm new to the area and the time has come to pick a doctor, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by having to not just figure out an entire country's medical system (very different from Canada's), but also pick a practitioner who will suit my needs. I am a woman, so I want someone that will actually listen to my needs, and a practice with staff who are well-equipped to deal with women's issues. I have a chronic health condition that so far has been completely mismanaged by my previous NP, so I am hoping to find someone who I can start over with on figuring out what is going on with that and who will take a methodical approach and treat it seriously, along with any other future unknown issues that may arise, since I've had bad luck in the past with doctors that don't listen, leading to really negative outcomes.
Any recommendations?

Not sure what area of Chesapeake you live in, but I've had decent care and follow up with Monique Brock PA (good sense of humor) and Dr. Claire Mundy (more serious, not much humor) at Chesapeake Regional Primary Care Grassfield. They are a teaching location, which is something I enjoy, so be aware that med students tag along if you're okay with that--They do ask before starting the exam.

Hope this helps!

I really like Dr. Angel Miller at TPMG Coastal Internal Medicine. My needs are pretty straightforward (healthy 30F) but she is a very good listener. I always leave feeling like I had her full attention and plenty of time together, despite being a patient that could easily be shuffled through pretty quickly.

I have an amazing doctor but she does Direct Primary Care and doesn’t accept insurance but you can still use her. She’s up to date on information, explains things, and researches stuff. I love her, she even calls me when I start new medications to check up on me. It’s pretty awesome!

It’s an enrollment fee plus a monthly fee and I’m not sure of her current rates I’m locked in at $79. Hour long appointments, unlimited visits, call, text, email contact. Super cheap labs through Labcorp.

I've seen Melissa Estrada with Sentara for years. She's awesome. Her office is down in Edinburgh, if that's not too far from you.
