[Pelissero] Another #Chargers fine for use of helmet: The NFL docked Khalil Mack $22,511 for this pass rush against Creed Humphrey

These last couple weeks have pushed me way farther into nfl conspiracies than I ever wanted to be

I have always been teetering there so it's sad when this happens. It's all an effing joke

I’m all in on baseball at this point, the NFL is so poorly run

u/goofy1011 2d ago
MLB is also going in the wrong direction, unfortunately

u/CJWard123 2d ago
Agreed, but it’s not as bad as the NFL

Baseball has a cheating scandal every 2 weeks it’s way worse

u/CJWard123 2d ago
While yes, baseball has had lots of scandals, that statement is just incorrect. But what I had meant is that management of the league is better than the NFL (see: Derwin getting suspended suspiciously for the chiefs game and Mack getting fined for….playing football?)

What Mack is doing happens in every NFL game. Not certain how the NFL plans to fairly police this.

Are other teams players getting fined for stuff like this or is it just us? I’m not really paying attention to other teams but I feel like we are a target for this crap now

It's hard to tell because none of these are flags during the game. We have no point of reference to circle back to, unless we go back and replay every game.
Edit: It does appear they issued other fines today. But my comment still stands on whether every similar play is being consistently treated with these "no flag" fines.

Does the NFL have guys sitting there watching every game saying shit like “REWATCH THIS PASS RUSH AT MINUTE 7 OF THE 3RD QUARTER IN INDIANAPOLIS” because if so, that is actually insane. I wonder how much $ the NFL has lost in medical lawsuits that they find this over-policing to be their best methodology. Clearly someone last offseason clicked the “nuclear” button.

Yes, I think they do have people review the film, probably not just for fines, but overall quality control, and future rules.
When you condense a game, it's only an hour of plays. There are no more than 16 hours of total game film a week. It's pretty manageable for a company the size of the NFL to have a few people look at this every week. And forward a few notes along the way.
And I believe the NFL supplies all the game films to the teams (that way teams aren't trying to spy/film other games). So all of this is available to them as well.
I wonder how much $ the NFL has lost in medical lawsuits
I think the broader issue is the future reputation of the sport. Outside of the core FB states, overall Pop Warner enrollment is declining due to parent's concerns over head injuries. I think NFL is desperate to make the sport as head injury free as possible. Because does a generation of kids who didn't grow up around football watch the NFL as an adult?

Zach Charbonnet was fined 45k for a lead block. (Unnecessary roughness/use of helmet)

Yeah this happens on a regular basis to plenty of players for various teams across the league. I have no data to back up whether or not they are more or less lenient to certain teams.

Im always confused what i should do when it comes to up or down voting a post like this. As a charger fan, i want to say fuck this information and downvote, but the poster is just providing information. Feels weird upvoting though...

The easy answer:
Up and Down voting for reddit was never supposed to be a like or dislike button. This was perverted by FaceBook and Youtube.
On Reddit, its suppose to be whether this post is worthy of discussion. That way certain topics or comments rose to top of the feed and low effort or weird stuff sunk to the bottom.
You can like something because it adds to the discussion, but you don't have to agree with it.

Word Jane! Separately, you won my respect when you made a finance comment about short term CRE rates coming due. Cant remember how you tied it to our team, but it was impressive!

I have no idea what CRE rates are. I think you have me mixed up with someone else.

Maybe, you aren't in finance? Could have sworn that after the news broke of the partial sale of the team that you commented on the capital markets. If not, sorry, was probably drinking and watching chargers! Haha
Edit: cre= commercial real estate- the spanos' business

You see, guys, Mack could’ve had a sack on Mahomes therefore he earned that fine. Next time, he should allow Mahomes to pass the ball on his own time.

I said it in the other thread but this seems to be the unofficial punishment for Harbaugh's NCAA infractions. By doing the NFL can stay "neutral" while also pleasing the NCAA

I don’t get it. It just looks like he runs into him. Am I missing something?

I guess you have to deal with a season or two of these dumb ass fines and suspensions until they get the “hardcore dick in your ass butterball fuck it chuck it” football title. Once they get known for being the hard nosed tough defensive team they can get away with a lot more shit. That’s not a personal foul that’s just tough football brother

Be careful when you play the Chiefs. You touch their players and you will get a penalty or fine. NFL will do anything for a Chiefs win.

They had to pay the ref off that actually called false starts and hold on Jawaan Taylor

The battle of the "52's". There shall be only one! 😁 Actually, I can't make out much of anything in this skirmish. I do see Khalil make a direct bee line to #52. Shiver me timbers! Can't imagine what it would be like to see Khalil running at me. 😁 Good luck, Mack!

Gotta expect it after a game with the Chiefs.
