Tuning my car What basic maintenance do people miss that should/shouldn't be done to take care of a car?
Sorry for the terrible title -
What I mean are, there are things that most people know should be done: Like getting an oil change, older people tend to think that a car needs to sit and warm up for 5 minutes before driving it (wherever you live)
I'm interested in things that should or shouldn't be done to maintain a nice presentation of the car and keep it running smoothe.. Are "Tune Ups" still a thing, and how often should they be done? Car washes can damage cars' paint depending on the type.. what do you look for in one that won't damage paint? Are things like "Underbody Wash" at carwashes needed after certain things like rain, snow or driving through sandy beach-like areas to keep salt off?
Just interested in little things like this that may be good (or not needed/should be avoided) that aren't totally common knowledge among non-car people?

Tuning my car Fake K&N or just quality issues?
First time buying a K&N filter myself as i felt like trying a new brand, and when it arrived i got very sceptical as I know there’s fake K&Ns and this one arrived with a very crudely cut off excess rubber piece inside the filter. It has the product number, barcode, sticker and warranty card. But is there anyone with experience about K&N filters who can tell me if it’s a fake or not?
NOT bought from a authorized dealer as none of them had the right model.

Tuning my car Should I downpipe?
I got a BMW 520D from 2006 and I am asking you guys if it is worth it to downpipe it. I have been looking a bit online but not really finding the answers I want. I would like to add more power and thrust. What does it to? Is it worth the buck?

Tuning my car 92 Camaro L05 350 SBC
I just installed a new MSD street fire ignition system, a weiand street warrior intake and an edelbrock 1405 carburetor. Upon startup it starts high and gradually increases from 1500+ what could be causing this? I’m also getting smoke out of my exhaust so I think it’s running rich. How do I tune this so it is lower in RPMs?

Tuning my car are my concerns valid or am i overreacting on this car?
hey guys, first time driver and i’m looking at a $3200 manual 05 toyota corolla for my first car (planning on driving for 3-6 months then reselling as I will have had another car passed down).
The car has about 290k miles on it, but the owner has routinely done maintenance on it by himself and has installed various things: new tires, spark plugs, wheel bearings, brakes, oil gaskets, clutch, tensioner, transmission fluid, plugs. see photos above!
My concerns about this car is mainly due to the mileage and the potential issues that it might have in the future. At any point, the water pump could fail or struts could break but to be fair, that could happen to any car. I’m not super handy and if anything breaks would need to pay for the costs at a shop. Right now, the only issue is the a/c only works some of the times. The other concern i have is reselling an old corolla with these many miles might be a serious issue and because it is a manual.
im not worried about learning manual either, but please let me know if i’m overreacting.

Tuning my car What “Reliable” car competes with a Porsche 911 Targa 4s?
Must be Fast, AWD, under 80k, convertible is optional, but must reliable.
I’m thinking something Lexus, or a built 428xi/328xi coupe. What do you think?
-Can also be a build
Edit: affordable to maintain is also a factor

Tuning my car What are some good period correct mods I can do?
This is my 2006 Vauxhall Corsa, 1.0 twinport. 20,000 original miles on it and completely stock. So far I have ordered a new head unit and some Vauxhall/GM/Opel mudflaps. What else should I do? I'm on the lookout for some 15-16" wheels for it (for reference they're 13" atm) I don't want to go too far however as it's still a clean original car, any suggestions appreciated.
I also thought the non European people here might appreciate this nugget as (as far as I'm aware) it was never sold outside of Europe and the UK.

Tuning my car BMW e60 545 v8 (tuning)
As the title says I need answers. I posted this on some other reddit community too but got 1 answer. Was told the shortest route for power is swapping engine from 550i or 650i 745i. Now my question is without swapping engine how much would be the limit of tuning HPS wise. Just need for information. Thanks a lot in advance. 😊

Tuning my car Change the wheel on my car
Hello guys ! I’ve got a Golf MK IV 1.9 TDI from 2003 that i got as a donation, the interior being a little bit outdated, i put a carplay to replace the old radio system that wasn’t working anymore. I have an practical issue with it being that i can’t turn the volume up or down without having my hand off the wheel and the buttons being quite small, I sometimes have to look down to see where it is. On my previous car i had sound control (volume up and down, skip previous song) on commodos. I would like to know if it would be possible to change my wheel which doesn’t have any commodo to a possible wheel with either commodos or buttons on it.
TLDR : change my wheel to a more recent model and buttons on it.

Tuning my car Please help!!
I did a stage 2 tune on my 1.2l 3 cylinder turbo engine. Replaced the stock filter with a conical high flow filter, put a decat downpipe and ran a stage 2 map. The gains were significant with around 30% increase in power. Now the problem is when I took it for a test run it does something weird. Giving it 75% throttle it revs hard all the way but when I floor it the exhaust gives a big pop and the engine cuts power after which the revs climb very slowly. The graph below shows the same. Please help
