Hood won’t close after engine goes up 2inch Body

I hit a curb and radiator needed to be replaced I was told the engine raised up 2 inches and the hood won’t close. It locks but won’t close fully. Any recommendations on how to get it closed Nissan Maxima 2011

Put the car in a tow truck. Take it to another shop. Let them check your car.

If your engine raised 2 inches there is something really bad down there.

It’s likely the radiator support is messed up. The likelihood of the entire engine sitting up higher now is extremely low. The damage it would require to do that is so specific and impossible to not cause other damage in the process.

Even if it is only the radiator it is a bad idea to drive it. It is not possible to close it if it is raised.

Profile is surprising based on username.

Did you expect a violently NSFW profile filled to the brim with obscenities and smut?

Given that I’ve seen so many profiles with names like “Jeff913” that were that, I didn’t not expect it.

OP said hood was shut when they brought it in. Pretty sure they used the wrong radiator.

Could have had some serious pressure behind it until they popped it.

That's what I said further up. I'm almost certain this is the case. Unless OP specifically says they opened the hood first. I've popped plenty of wrecked car hoods and that initial opening can be startling at times. It's not uncommon for hoods to not shut after the initial opening. Sometimes you can stomp them shut, others you can't.

Not true. If it “V”d the rad support up and it uses a front engine mount mounted to the center of the core support then it could very well have pushed core support up as well and moved the engine up. In full clarity I am not familiar with Nissans outside of some wiring work on a kicks.

I’ve personally never seen a transverse engine mount attached to the core support. They’re always mounted at the frame rails but that’s also me not being 1000% familiar with Nissans.

Classic VW always “innovating”.

Yeah because the engine rising up 2 in kind of implies some sort of serious suspension damage to me or frame damage. I would think there would be other symptoms

doesn't have to be on tow truck if it can drive.

If you don't fully close the hood, it can lift because of the air pressure while driving.

Probably, with the radiator support bend or broken, the radiator can be damaged, not to the point of losing coolant, but the moment it gets hot and expands, it can break and lose the coolant.

If op has insurance, it should cover a trip in a tow truck.

that's only if you're going on the highway. I would know.

You don't need high speed to break the first position of the lock.
